Does anyone know where Velorex serial number info can be found? I just bought an old Velorex with serial number 162023 and would like to know more about it.

With that serial # it must be a 560 Jawa model.
In the last ten years the numbers have gone from 298XXX to 301XXX. So yours is an oldie.

It looks like it may have been built in 81 but the plate is pretty hard to read. If I brush it too much, all of the info will be gone. It is two halves and fiberglass top and bottom. It came with a wire wheel.

I am also looking to find a subframe pattern for a 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic bike to fit this car but still be versitile enough to change later. The Velorex is not my first choice for a car because of it's weight, but it is all I can afford at this time. Well, the real truth is: if my wife knew I had to spend more money on top of the price of the bike and car, well, I may have to sleep in the sidecar for a while.

Thanks for the info on the number Lonnie.

It was advertized as a 562, but I know someone with a 562 and his has a plastic bottom half.

I know that this car is not suited for my bike, as it sits, so if someone has a bigger and heavier car that is too much for their bike and wants to trade for something lighter, I am open to a trade. That will save me the trouble of beefing up the Velorex for my size bike.

It looks like putting the Velorex body on a beefier frame is also an option. If anyone has a heavier frame to sell, let me know. I was offered a CA car frame recently but shipping would be a problem to Oregon but if you have one to sell close by, that would be OK.

Ignatious,
The lower body of the earlier 562's and 700's were of hand laid fiberglass with a sprayed on texture finish. In the late '90's this method was superceded by a molded and reinforced plastic lower with a leather textured low gloss finish and a steel belly pan for better protection against rock chips and better under body protection for the passenger.

The difference in the two earlier 562 models are:
The 562 Standard or America models had a rounded molded cockpit opening, a flat Vinyl tonneau cover and looked finished without the windshield (that mounted to the body with 3 slot headed bolts). The small steel grab bar allowed more room for entry in this model.
The less expensive 562E (for Euro) model had a squared off (in front) cockpit opening with a large ribbed rubber coated grab bar, ribbed rubber surround moulding, a flange mounted windshield attached by 5 screws with plastic nuts. The Sailcloth tonneau went clear over the windshield and the car looked odd without the windshield attached. The large grab bar also impaired entry and exiting the car but was necessary for upper sidecar body support.
The 562E model was discontinued in 2003 since the bodies were so similar and the chassis was the same. Some vendors used to sell the 562E's as 562 Standards (and pocket the extra $200.00 difference in price).
Many still don't know the difference between the Marques models and think "A Velorex is a Velorex".

Fender is a trailer fender to cover the larger wheel (looks like early GL wheel).
With the top on I can't identify the model. If the edges of the cockpit opening are flanged with a ribbed rubber molding it's a 562E. If it is a finished rolled fiberglass surround it is a 562S.
Either way, unless ballast has been added it is about a 160# sidecar.

the top and fender are modified from original. I should have mentioned that earlier. the original windshield looks like a velorex shield.
