I am looking at buying a 2005 Suzuki S40 with a Velorex 562. Both are in excellent condition and the Suzuki has only 1700 miles. The bike is white & sidecar black. I have some questions. How expensive is it to have the bike painted black? Does anyone have any experience with this combination? I will be using it mostly to drive to work with occasional rides in the North Georgia mountains with my wife & Rat terrier. Will this combination be stable & fairly easy to handle? I will be on the expressway for about 12-15 miles at a time only. The sidecar was sold & installed by a qualified installer. Is $5,000 a good price for the rig? Thanks for any advice anyone can give me.

Is that what they used to call the Suzuki Savage? I have seen a couple of Velorex combos set up on those and they lloked like a good match, but I haven't driven one so I don't know.

Looks like it might be a nice well balanced combination, maybe a little down on power but it should be fun!

Howdy...I owned a Suzuki S40 for my first bike...

Great little machine...super in the windys and around town and lots of torque...but topped out, for me, at about 70-75 mph on level ground. I would not have dared to take it on the expressway or interstate...just not enough reserve top end to keep up with traffic. Now add a sidecar and I'm guessing you'll lose about 10% or so off the top end...now you're looking at a rig which will go only about 65 or so, particularly loaded up with you, your spouse and your pupster.

Do I think it would be a bad rig? Nope...to the contrary...it would be great rig for around town and for rides out in the country. Would I take it on the interstate? No way, Jose...

JMHO...

This is a good rig for backroading and town use. Not enough CC's for the superslab but overall a fun runabout sidehack rig.
NADA books the bike at about $3600.00 which makes it a bargain rig if it is in good shape.
Cost on repainting the bike will depend on if you can dissassemble the parts that need repainting or if you pay a shop to do it. Less costly would be to take your tank, fenders and side covers to the painter for a price quote.
