Just finished 2 weeks by sidecar thru Skyline Drive, Blue ridge Parkway, Dragon and a few other twisties in the area. Rode stock Vulcan Classic 1500 with Hannigan Classic Twin. Car was PACKED--had to close hatch and unsnap top to finish loading. Better half and I rode 2 up. We weighed at local farm supply and grossed out at 1830 POUNDS--there goes the warranty. The only bad part of the whole trip was I-81 between Harrisburg, pa and Front Royal, Va. where you have to run 75 to 85(maxed out) to keep from getting run over! Fuel mileage sucks at that speed--about 25mpg but got 35-40 on the parkway. We unloaded everything at Iron Horse before running the Dragon so wife could play monkey. I tried to fly the car on one right hander where there was a camera but thanks to Dave not having his S/tep school ready yet, I just lacked the experience :). Gotta blame it on someone! We didn't set any speed record but didn't have traffic backed up behind us either. I have been debating over changing rake but am not going to now even though arms ached a little- besides its good exercise. Stock shocks were shimmed 1/4", refilled with 20w fork oil with 45# pressure, 195-60r-16 Dunlop car tire on rear and 150-80B-16 rear tire REVERSED on the front. Looking forward to many more trips like this in the future.
