This is from the Evergreen Safety Council official statement.
http://www.esc.org/sidecar.html
Would someone please provide explanations we can undrestand re any of this:

Quote: Evergreen Safety Council is pleased to announce that we have assumed administrative responsibility for sidecar/trike training throughout North America from the USCA-Sidecar Safety Program. The USCA-SSP still exists and is an integral part of our program providing expertise and advice for curriculum development, training assistance, etc.
The USCA-SSP is an organization of sidecar and trike enthusiasts, who as volunteers put the original training program together. The success of the program was sufficiently overwhelming and it quickly surpassed the ability of the volunteer organization. The President of the SSP, Dave Hough, approached Evergreen in early 1999 with the idea of having a recognized safety training organization take over course administration to better serve the growing number of both Instructors and students.

We believe that 3-wheeled motorcycles are significantly different in handling dynamics and characteristics from 2-wheeled motorcycles. For this reason separate and different training is required for both the novice and experienced sidecarist or trike rider. It is our goal to have this program available in all areas where motorcycle training is currently offered for those riders who choose to enjoy the sport of motorcycling on three wheels. We are working with industry representatives, enthusiasts, instructors, state motorcycle safety program coordinators, insurance companies, and the general public to achieve this goal.

Training is offered at several locations throughout the United States and Canada. Course schedules and class information is listed below. For more information about this program please contact the Evergreen Sidecar/Trike Program Coordinator, Monty E. Lish at:
(800) 521-0778 or mel@esc.org .
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Students must be at least 16 years of age and have a valid driver's license to attend the course.
The novice Sidecar class is approximately 16 hours in length. It progresses from simple to more difficult riding maneuvers.
Sidecar rigs and a trike (if available) are provided for student use during training. To use your own rig or trike, you are required to show proof of liability insurance.

If you bring your own sidecar combination/trike, you must have at least 50 pounds of removable ballast (A sandbag, available at your local hardware store, is a good option.) in the sidecar for the first day's riding exercises. Students must have liability insurance ($25,000 personal injury, $50,000 injury per occurrence, $10,000 property damage), proof or ownership. The instructor will ask to see the proof of both at the class.

Rig must be transported to range in safe and legal manner.
Successful completion of this class may result in lowered insurance premiums depending on your insurance company's policies. As of January 1, 2004 successful completion of this course provides a license waiver for your Washington State three wheel endorsement.

For Washington residents: you must have a "3-wheel" endorsement on your license to legally operate a sidecar.
The WA Department of Licensing offers a separate driving test for a "3-wheel only" endorsement.

If you would like more information about courses and registration, please call the Evergreen Safety Council toll free at 1-800-521-0778 or email us at motorcycle@esc.org.

I have justy received a telephone call from Mrs. Larry Allen (I believe I heard Mr. Allen in the background but he didn't speak with me). She told me that the petition WAS NOT started at the Bean Blossom Rally. She went on the say that it was started at the Ron-Dee-Voo (an SCT event) after she had consulted her lawyer.

Now I had previously said,"As a side note, it was immediately after this ruckus (within minutes) that the “Larry Allen Petition” (to remove Jay as a Board member) was started. Does anyone still believe that this has ANYTHING to do with Jay being in the industry? Has anyone noticed that Colby Cousineau signed the petition KNOWING that there is no provision for removing a Board member? The whole thing SMELLS!"

That comment was made based on the dates on the petition. The fact is she's right and I am wrong. The dates started in July and I read them as June. The petition was started later.

Now that still doesn't make it right. Mrs. Allen railed against me and against Jay. Her most memorable comment was to the effect that , a member of the industry shouldn't get up on a table and yell like that. I tried to point out that a member of the Board shouldn't threaten folks and yell either and that I thought that they BOTH should have been admonished, as I have said many times before. She was not dissuaded.

It seems that Mrs. Allen believes there are different standards of behavior for folks in the business and members of the Board. I don't feel that way but that's OK, everybody gets to have an opinion.

Mrs. Allen, I made a mistake about the timing of the petition and I'm very sorry. I do try to be as correct as I can be considering the large amount of incorrect information that gets published here. All that said, everything except the date is still true. The petition SMELLS! There are not two standards for behavior, both these guys acted like school kids and if you're going after one and not the other please give us a reason. I've asked John Kennedy for a reason as well but he hasn't said anything either.

By the way, would the person at the rally who asked Jay about the tires because he needed them to get home please contact me. I think I know who is was but I want to be sure.

Just to set the record straight I feel the following should be said. This petition, known as the Larry Allen petition, if indeed it did begin at the RON-DEE-VOO, which was/is put on by the Internet Sidecar Owners Klub (ISOK) and not SCT (which only stands for 'SideCar Talk' which is the home of the ISOK on the web) was not the work of the ISOK in any way.
I am not saying that Al Olme said it was nor even hinted in any way that it may have been the case. I am only saying this now to keep the air clean.
Claude, founder: ISOK at SCT.
Hope to see you all at RON-DEE-VOO II

I just got a call from Mr. Allen, I would like to ask Mr. Ome to correct his statements, and to apologize to her corectly.

And being as you ask and she told you that I had nothing to do with the petition and you told her that you believed then you should share that also.

And as a gentleman you should apologize to Claude for even mentioning SCT in a negitave post. It was an independent action by a concerned member.
If you want to carry the banner for whoever, DO NOT INCLUDE ME IN YOUR FORKED TOUNGE SPEACHES.

Let us talk about an even playing field for all manufactures.
Or let us talk about the MOA charter.
Or let us talk about sidecaring and having a good time.
Can Al come out and play, or is he still in time-out?

Wow John, If I could understand what you wrote, I'd probably do a better job of answering but I'll have a go...

JK-"I just got a call from Mr. Allen, I would like to ask Mr. Ome [sic] to correct his statements, and to apologize to her corectly [sic]."

I'm not sure what you'd like me to correct. I was wrong on a date and I said as much and said I was sorry. You were wrong about taking credit for stuff you didn't do and haven't admitted a thing.

JK-"And being as you ask and she told you that I had nothing to do with the petition and you told her that you believed then you should share that also."

That was a bit hard to follow but I think I know what you tried to say. I don't remember mentioning your name in our conversation at all. I never thought that you had anything to do with the petition and I've never said that you did but I do still feel that you have "taken sides" instead of dealing with BOTH wrong doers equally.

JK-"And as a gentleman you should apologize to Claude for even mentioning SCT in a negitave [sic] post. It was an independent action by a concerned member."

John, the post wasn't negative. I apologized to Mrs. Allen, even though she wasn't too nice to me on the phone. I made a mistake on a date and everyone including Claude knows that my mention of SCT (which pre-dates ISOK and was the original non-organization) was not an issue here and it carried NO NEGATIVE CONNOTATIONS. I have no problem with Claude or SCT/ISOK the only reason I resigned as a moderator there was to shield the site from political flack.

JK-"If you want to carry the banner for whoever, DO NOT INCLUDE ME IN YOUR FORKED TOUNGE SPEACHES [sic]."

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I was quiet until you tried to take credit for things that you didn't do. I have made one mistake on a date and I have told NO LIES. In my mind and probably those of the membership, taking credit for accomplishments that you did not participate in is lying. Maybe you should think about that?

JK-"Let us talk about an even playing field for all manufactures [sic].
Or let us talk about the MOA charter.
Or let us talk about sidecaring and having a good time.
Can Al come out and play, or is he still in time-out?"

I'm for all of that. I never took a "leave" from my USCA job. I have no issues with any of the manufacturers and I still can't figure out what straws you are grasping at there. When I left, I told folks about the renewal of the MOA charter (which you couldn't do anything about because you were not then a member). And I'm not on time out, that's a child's thing and I'm not the one being childish. Now that I'm talking again I feel pretty good. Fighting the good fight and getting the truth out to the members.

Just a couple of further thoughts…

That thing about the gradual change to the Constitution really is a good idea. Why don't you admit it and use it? It really would be giving the club back to the members in a very tangible way and it would do away with one more of those secrecy issues.

Any luck getting the officer and service officers who have resigned to come back to their jobs? If you’re looking for a stand-in Treasurer, I’d suggest Dave Szkudlarek. Having Jean run for Treasurer isn’t really a sound idea. She’s smart and I’m sure she’s honest as the day is long but it just doesn’t look good and talk about a conflict of interest… no publicly held company on the planet would even consider having two signature authorities in one house. You’re just asking for more trouble and you’ve got enough already.

Nice talking with you again!

Of course not. Claude, you know that I have made appeals several times to keep USCA politics here on Sidecar.com and keep them away from SCT. I was just trying to differentiate the events. There is NO INTENT to say anything negative about ISOK, SCT, Ron-Dee-Voo or you Claude. The petition was written by a bunch of folks who have taken a position against Jay and have completely forgiven Colby for their MUTUAL BAD BEHAVIOR.

That's odd in a way because Jay apologized publicly that same night after the ruckus and I never have heard any sort of an apology from Colby but I easily could have missed it, I'm not on his Christmas card list.

Mrs. Allen was right, I got the dates wrong and I've apologized to her. I hope she will not take all this back and forth personally. I certainly don't. It's about getting enough correct information out to the membership for them to be able to make good decisions when it comes time to vote.

Part of that is not letting folks get away with false claims. I made a mistake, I was called on it and I admitted as much. I suggested to John Kennedy that he might have misspoke with some of his claims and he has never admitted his error. Maybe it wasn't an error? Maybe he said those things on purpose to take credit for stuff he didn't do? Hmmm.

You all know what? If the so called leaders of this un-United Sidecar Association would spend more time working with one another and less time trying to get credit or cast blame things would be a lot better than they are now.
Pretty silly when you sit back and think about it.
