I have a 1978 r100/r with a Ural side car. Would a 2007 HD Fatboy Softail be about the same as the older BMW? As far as the ride and handling go.
The Fatboy would have better brakes and the softtails ride much smoother than the Old Beemers. Not much suspension travel but less choppy.
With a Liberty car you still wouldn't have an excess of power with the Fatboy. Since their inception in 1990 the Fatboy's have been the lowest performance big twins in the Harley lineup. They are popular due to the "Retro" appearance (Think: Elvis's Panhead ElectraGlide), not due to performance potential. The swing-arm suspended RoadKing would give a better ride and the ride is adjustable with air pressure. The low seat height of the Fatboy is of no advantage with a hack on the side.
