Hello all, wondered if anyone has a trailer hitch on a sidecar outfit, I talked to a woman from Calif., had one, but the trailer was right behind the bike, I thought maybe it would be better if the hitch was in the middle of the whole outfit?? between the bike and hack? don't know, any help appreciated, thanks, David.

It is much better to put it in the center of the rig, coming off the sidecar frame, or mounting area. that provides more equal pulling, AND centers the trailer behind the rig, with no left side of the trailer sticking out in trafic. a rig is wide enough, without the extra 2 feet or so of the trailer hanging out to the left.
when mounted behind the bike, it will pull with less drag to the right from the sidcar, but that can be easily compensated forwith it mounted centered, by setting up the lean, to allow for it.
there are many sidecarists who pull trailers.. no problems. I have one for 25 years now.
on 2 wheels it was behind the bike, now it is centered on the rig.

I'm with Bob on this one. It's a safer method. The receiver can be more solidly mounted by attaching it at the inside rail and the narrower rig will be easier to handle on narrow back roads while maintaining travel in it's own lane.
Less chance of snagging oncoming traffic.

Hi David. I have a small camper trailer that I alternatly tow with my sidecar rig or my EV11 Guzzi. Hitch on rig is a long bar which is attached both to the front and rear mounting cross bars and is centered equally between bike and hack. Check pictures in albums section under newfiedads toys.
Happy Riding... Fred F.

I think a lot depends on the width of the trailer. I had originally planned on moving my hitch to the center of the rig but the Liberty has no frame that lends itself to that. I sold my Kwik Kamp pop up tent trailer to help pay for the Liberty and only tow my small cargo trailer now. The hitch is still on the bike. It tows with no problem what ever...
