Hi Littlefawn:

Beware: It looks like you will need a substantial subframe, especially for the lower front mount, as the Virago does not have a "wrap-around" cradle frame, such as the V-Star 650 or a Sportster.

Also: Do not attach mounts to the engine protection bars.

Hey, there is a Jawa 560 project sidecar for sale over in Austin:
http://austin.craigslist.org/mcy/2376322679.html

Sidecar project that I never finished. Rust removed from frame and painted. Body primed and first few coats of paint applied. Reinforced body with new fiberglass. Fender is crushed on top and needs work. New wheel/tire bought off ebay. Replacement parts purchased from Velorex USA in NY and misc parts purchased from Czech. Had seats made locally. Pretty much all there. Asking $900.

A good friend rode a 720 Virago for years with a California sidecar. It will make a good tug.

I have found a number of sidecars by putting wanted ads in the local paper. Especially if your community has a trading post type paper. There have been a lot of them built that are still laying in the back of someones garage or barn.
"Gee, I was going to restore it", or "I bought a bike and didn't want that thing".

thanks Lee, we are trying to work out the logistics of getting it from there to here! my options include mounting a trailer hitch to the car and borrowing a trailer, hitch-hiking to AL. and renting a truck one- way, going on the hack minus body and piggy-backing it back and going on the V-Star solo and mounting it there. appreciate you telling us about it. you guys take care.
