hello folks
i want to put a sidecar on my 500/4 and want to find out if anyone has one or has done this, if so what make of sidecar.
over here on t'other side of the pond velorex sidecar that fit to jawas' are cheap, plentiful and light enough so that's what i#ll probably use.

The Velorex 562 Standard is a good fit. I would imagine there are a few 562E models still available there as well. Any of the older units with the 15mm axle (less expensive probably) will do fine with your 500/4. I have installed them on Hondas down to 250ccs and have seen them on GL 1500s. At 70k the weight ratio is ideal for the 500. With the Honda brakes the sidecar brake won't be needed.

there are plenty of the older type of chair to be had for roughly £50 - £75.
the only problem is getting fittings made, but there are several shops that have told me they might be able to help.

Well if your a handy welder you can almost fit anything to anything, also you can by a universal mounting kit, for most rigs

Since the Velorexs use clevis and eye connectors at all 4 points, fabrication of the mounts is easily accomplished by anyone with a little metal shop experience. The cycle mounts are also easily made with strap stock utilizing eye bolts, bolt on brackets with welded pad eyes, or strap stock and u-bolts to gird the frame tubes.
Like to see a pic or two here after you get started on the rig.

It looks like you have good access to the 4 points needed for the Velo hack mounting.
I would definitely retain the trailing link suspension on the car. I have mounted several 562s to rigid choppers (mostly Harley powered but the ride is the same)and it's a lot easier on the passenger, the handling of the bike and the attachment fittings to have suspension on the hack.
