Archie and I rode the Ride for Life run yesterday up to Priest Lake, Idaho. Towed the trailer with the camp gear just in case we decided to take advantage of the free camping. We didn't stay for the band so took off for home between 4:30 and 5:00. Just coming back into Spokane on US 2 we caught up to a green Goldwing with a two place sidecar towing a trailer. California plates. At a stop light I asked where they were headed. The local KOA. I said they could come out to our place and camp free if they wanted. They looked like they'd had about enough miles for the day in the heat. I asked what their destination was. He said back home to Paradise CA. I headed west, they continued toward the KOA...

They probably had made reservations at the KOA. It seems they had planned their trip well. I doubt that it was a snub.

Many like to do that but our little group (one to four) prefers to take pot luck on the road. You meet many more interesting people and see many neat places you would miss with a tightly scheduled itenerary.

Oh no, I didn't take it as a snub at all. At that point, they were closer to the KOA as well though still some distance from either it or our place. And you know what the facilities are at the KOA, not so with an offer made along the road. My reason for posting was thinking maybe they are members here or someone would recognize who it might be and chime in...

Tom.
I applaude you on your offer of hospitality. I used to be a over the road driver. On a few different occasions i got offers from locals and took em up on it. All i can say is I still have friends in Kentucky and in Ohio because of thair offeres. A wise man once said "I went out looking for friends and found none...I went out to be a friend and i found many". If your ever in nw sconnie- look us up. Ed.

Thanks Ed, will do. Uncle Ernie, that's a possibility. Or maybe with two little ones in the sidecar and no knowledge of how friendly the dog in mine might be...
Here's a shot from yesterday of one little kid who had no fear of Archie.
