sidecar year unknown?

I recently purchased a Moto-Guzzi California II that had a Ural sidecar attatched. I am trying to determine where I would find an ID plate that lists year built. The car looks fairly recent, I.E., decent paintjob, spare tire on rear trunklid, squareish runninglights, Overall nice condition. Any Hints?? All help appreciated.

You will not find any thing that tells you when the sidecar was built unless it is a fairly old sidecar.

Interesting. I also have an unknown sidecar. What about a tailight lens?

Here's what's on my lens;

yours is the venerable "Spirit of America" of early to mid 70's vintage. The Lucas taillights (a popular chopper part from the period) were factory installed on these. Few of the taillights survive but the chairs remain plentiful. Nice rig. You should post some more pics in the album section.

regards,

I bought mine used about 3 years ago. Although I haven't been able to verify this, I was told that the square lights with amber signals didn't appear on the market until 1992.

Thanks for the info! "venerable"? Wheel gonna fall off of it or sumthin'?
LOL
Would like to keep the tail light, but the lens cracked at the mount hole. I used some JB Kwik to put it back together but it didn't hold. Got a tombstone on the prime mover, so I'm thinking of doing some glass-work and mounting another of the same on the hack. Just gotta widen the fender a little at the flat spot.
That looks like my hack in your picture so I take it you have one too and know what yer talking about!
I had to weld a lot of pipe and all-thread together to make my mounts, and the car wants to buckle in towards the bike when I put more than a hundred pounds in it. Surely some adjustment of one of these mounts or a solid weld will keep it from doing this. I've been looking at as many mount pictures as I can find on the net but they don't help much.
Thanks for the reply and good words, I'll post some more pics later.

Jaytree,
Maybe you could e-mail photos of your Spirit's mountings (bike end and sidecar end). Perhaps I might have a suggestion or two that might help you out.

Ok Lonnie, I certainly will. I'm on night shift this week so I don't have much time for anything but sleep catch-up.
Thanks for the help.

Respects, Jaytree

Great email Lonnie!
That's news I can use! Good photo examples also.
Thank you very much, and I'll let you know how the changes work out.
