sidecar to Valkyrie

My current ride is a '77 GL1000 with California sidecar modified to fit my two kids (see attachement). I've had it for three years...I'm a novice. As my kids grow, I will need a larger sidecar and a stronger tug (in about two years). I was thinking of something like a Valkyrie. Does anyone know of problems/advantages of said bike? Any suggestions as to other bikes are welcome. This is my first post...I hope the link works 😉

regards
Denis

The Valkyrie makes an excellent tug. Like the Goldwing it can be a challenge to fit a subframe to, but there are many commercial kits for it. Uncle Blasto used a Champion Legend on his. That sidecar probably won't fit your needs, but I can tell you the subframe and mount kit from Champion was first rate!

The only real down side I can see is the Valkyrie gets horrible gas miliage

I haven't mounted it yet, but I have a Texas Sidecar rig and am wondering which one of two different tug to choose from. I have a Harley Davison Electrica Glide and a Honda Valkyrie Tourer and wonder which of the two would be a better choose. Do they both require a different mount sub-frame?

Yes they need separate sub-frames.

Excellent bike for a tug. Normally I'd get around 30mpg on the highway, but hit it hard and you can bring that down to 15.

I really miss this bike.

I own a 99 Wing w/Champion Daytona sc. I rig is big, milage is nothing to crow about (28-32mpg) but the wife loves it. It is a 2 passenger (side by side) car. two average sized kids should be no problem. Only problem I'm having is finding a trailer wide enough to put the rig on.(darn, guess I'll just have to ride it where ever I want to go) Hannigan also makes a two person side by side car. As expected they are not cheap. I have seen one or two for sale on e-bay.
Best wishes, and keep em safe.

Hi Smokeynal...as for a trailer...I purchached a dual snowmobile trailer that tilts to allow me to ride up...it's 8ft wide. It works great. I would presume snowmobiles and their trailers would be rare in Alabama 😉
