Thanks for sharing that video datorg7590!
I've got a question hopefully you or somebody can answer. I've been working on flying my "chair" (Motorvation Formula II). I can fly the chair in a right turn with control (after lots of practice in Wally Worlds Parking Lot), no problem . But I can't seem to get the chair "up" in a straight line, or without turning the Rig to the right. After watching your video, it strikes me that maybe the Formula II is just a little to wide/heavy for "straight line flying"?
Or maybe it's my "skill sets" 😮

Best Regards, Russ

Russ,
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
For me, flying the car always seemed natural. The Velorex is a notoriously light rig. I would tend to think that your issues lie with the weight/width of the rig, but it's just a guess. I'm sure that there are many in this forum that have vastly more experience than I, and would invite their opinions.
Thanks.

Russ,
my 2 rigs were/are very light. The day I tried "Haenschens's Porsche chaser" in '88 I got wide eyes.
That EML Toaster was extremely hard to lift and with the car tires there was no way to keep it lifted up or on a straight line with a lifted sidecar.
As simple as this, each rig is another world of its own...

Best wishes to the friends and family of the fellow in the video who passed by to the ethernal hunting/riding grounds.
Sven

You guys are Great! Not only did you reply quickly but you saved my dignity by not bringing up my skills ! 🙂
I gotta say, I've been keenly interested in a KLR/Sputnik Rig (Yeah, I to0, want to run Parsons Branch
😉 ). I think I might have stubled onto another "point" to "validate" another Rig 😉

Cheers, Russ

Rustle,
myself I am at the point to get me a KLR650 and hand it to the Velorex or make my own s/c for riding in the mountains.
What I learned with my light toys is when they are too light....each time you have to make a wave for to avoid a dog or what ever that sucker comes up. And I have to duck pretty fast over the sidecar.
Well that way I am my own monkey.

Don't take life so serious, its only temporary!

A and a too heavy loaded sidecar on a steep hill makes you just turn right into the ditch or towards the cliff.
So result is: Each rig is only as good as long it is used within its possibilities it was designed for.
Luckily a Monkey driver can still make a huge difference.

The Sputnik's I saw didn'd say "beep, beep" but had pretty flimsy hinges in the front. just change them against something beefier and go for it.
If you get earlier to that new combo let me know how it behaves.
My KLR (that is still at the store) will first get a run in period of 5000 km to run it in before it will get the 3rd wheel.
Best wishes
Sven

In order to lift the wider Formula II you may have to do a quick right "swerve" then straighten out after the balance point has been achieved.
Try a large EMPTY practice range at first!

Remember, long chair flights are awfully hard on wire spoke wheels.

Thanks Sven, I also heard the latches on the lid of the sutnik are junk as well. I'm looking for either a KLR Tug or a Sputnik to start the project. Not in any hurry, just keepin' my eyes open 🙂
Hello Lonnie, I've been going to a Walmart lot out along one of my "dust off the copweb" routes. I've been doing the 'swerve" to get the chair up, but I'm not getting the "balancing point", yet. I think I need more practice. That is after Kaylee get's Her Ride Time in the chair! 🙂

Regards, Russell
