RUSSIAN Sidecar Tire
My 2000 Moto Guzzi Quota is tugging a URAL sidecar. As best as I can determine it is fitted with a 4.00 x 19 tube type "Uralshina" [?] tire [Mfgd by Sibur?] The tread pattern appears to be somewhat aggressive. Although the tire has E22 and DOT certifications am I crazy driving this rubber at 75mph?
The Russian tires (and tubes) are known leak air and made very unbalanced. The latest variety may be better but I doubt they are much better.
A tire failure on the hack is not nearly as bad as one on the bike but I would consider a better made tire if I planned on long runs on the superslab. The aggressive tread patterned tires are best used off-road.

Spuddy, the Uralshina tires have worked well on thousands of Ural hacks for many years. Russian tubes are a bit porous and no one that I know uses them. The aggressive tread pattern doesn't mean a thing on a hack wheel. The newer Duro tires wear a lot better and the tread pattern is a copy of the old Pirelli universal.
If you have doubts about the Uralshina, I suggest you get a Duro and a quality tube from your friendly local Ural dealer. Heindl in Ohio, Crawford in MI or TriQuest in CA do a lot of mail order Ural stuff.
