What methods do you use to secure your rig when you're
at a motel or restaurant, etc?
Do you feel it's less likely to stolen or messed with
than a two wheeler?

I have the stock Harley security system on my current rig. In the past I have used the stock steering locks, a 6' chain lock through the front or rear wheel and bike frame, and a large padlock inserted into a front brake rotor to limit wheel rotation. Depending on where I was parked sometimes a combination of methods were used.
Due to lack of driver experience a sidecar rig is less apt to be stolen unless a flatbed tilt truck or trailer is used by the thieves.
If driven off they are quite easily spotted due the rarity of the beasts.
I secure mine anyway. Better safe than walking.

What about covering it with a trap, ie the less seen the better?

I just take the key out of the ignition.I think they are less prone to theft, but absolutely no proof of that.I also have insurance. If I was real concerned, I might add a rotor lock, they are pretty tough to overide (I think). With a 2 wheel bike the whole bike can just be carried away (4 guys with couple 3 foot poles). That wouldnt work with a rig.......

Would that be a bear trap, perhaps? Or a malayan tiger trap? lol

I think for a long time allready to put
just a little sticker on the tank saying:

Forget it what you are thinking. You will for sure have an accident within 500m.

---------

On the rig there is not at all the need for number code, diesel interuption, mini PLC, high voltage generator (fried eggs and shift handle), 120 decibel wistle, central lock with 3/4" pin and pepper gas (into the drivers face) as I installed on my service van where the tools are way more valuable then the van....

The best theft securety is like it does Beemerchef:
Ara has Spirit watching the "his" bike.
People think twice getting nearer to a Pitbull Terrier.

My Golden Retriever / Irish setter breed is too sweet and jumps out, but our 12 year old lady Pincher / streat breed defends "her" sidecar preety well too.
