Welcome Lance. FYI, there's an advertisement for a flip-front red Champion Escort for sale over here in Louisiana:

Champion Sidecar Escort fits Honda Goldwing or Harley FLH '84-'04 - $2500 Motorcycle sidecar, Champion sidecar, Escort model. This sidecar will fit a Honda Goldwing, or a Harley Davidson FLH. We have the manual for fitting it to an FLH '84-'04 but we understand a kit can be ordered to fit it to just about any dresser. Great condition! Call for more info or to see. Shannon 318-840-8680.
See pics here: http://shreveport.craigslist.org/mcy/1582684311.html

I've never seen the sidecar, nor do I have any personal experience with an Escort.

That's great turtleman. I work in Bossier City so let's try to meet up while you're over this way. Lunch/supper/coffee or such?

Turtleman, lunch is on me on Friday. I'm anticipating a busy but somewhat flexible work day on Friday; there is a Catfish King next door to the office on Viking Drive just off Airline Drive, one block South of I-20 in Bossier City.

If'n you bring your bike, we have a fellow in the area than can complete your installation. Jay at www.jnjsidecarsandtrikes.com or 318-453-7433 has worked on the installation of both of our Texas Sidecars. Should you be trailering and take this option, be sure your trailer is wide enough for the completed rig. As tempting as it sounds, I would not suggest that a brand new sidecarist drive a rig from LA to GA.

If the knee continues to be an issue, Revloc makes an auto clutch for harleys, and can have both brakes on the bars.

Just to let all know, that I made it home safe from Louisiana, sorry Swampfox about the lunch, but will take a rain check as I will be back this fall. Bought the Escort, looks in great shape, in dash radio, speakers in the dash, and it does have the T.I.L.T. (Tracking Increment Leanout Technology. Looks like all I need are the mounts for the bike frame. Will post pictures as the build goes on. Thanks to all for the heads up on the info.

A friend working with handi-cap Boyscouts just asked me to help with basic astronomy, moon (no joke) stuff for starts and first thing I thought of was taking my sidecar and giving rides where when it worked.

New Gear-Up hasn't arrived yet but will watch your son & you adapt and learn for myself how to apply if I do start working with this group.

Grin factor must be borderline numbing...

I know just from some of the special rides in the area what motorcycles, sidecar, and just the riders that make a difference. It is the simple fact that someone took the time to care. Too many years in the line of work has taught me one sad thing. Make sure you everything you do is legal. Ride releases, etc, even for just sitting in your sidecar and having there picture, people are lawsuit happy. In my case, Brian is 28, tube fed and wheelchair bound the rest of his life, anything I can do to make his life a little easier I will do, don't ask about the lap dance........lol....or why we go to Hooters all the time......anything to make my boy happy. Now with the hack, he can join me. All we have to do is asked if he is ready to ride and his hollars of joys will last for 10-15 minutes, there is no better sound in the world.

Hey turtleman, let me know when you're back our way and we'll try again. Good luck with your installation.

I see you tried to post a photo in the albums, but it didn't take. This is most likely because the "file" was too large. If so, simply re-size (shrink) the photo. I finally figured that out. I still can't link a photo into a post, but at least I can post into an album. Please try again. We wanta see!
