NITROGEN IN TIRES

I've been advised that Russian tubes [most likely found in Russian tires] are porous and consequently leak. I can well attest that my sidecar tire lost over 10 pounds during the 275 mile ride from Helena to Coeur d'Alene last weekend. [Hot temperatures and I pushed my rig a bit on the way.] At any rate, a few members advised me that [pure?] nitrogen has the molecular makeup to slow pressure loss, or even prevent bleed-down completely. I wonder. There was even some skepticism at COSTO where I replaced the stem valve and completely "aired" up with nitrogen.

After the car's tire pressure stabilized at 37.5 psi Sunday morning, I returned from the Annual USCA rally at similar speeds and in similar temperatures. RESULT: 37.5 psi when I checked the pressure the next day. I guess time will tell but for now I suspect this nitrogen thing may be real.
