I am new to the sidecar world. I currently have two bikes. One is my first bike which is a 1991 harley 1200 sporty. I would like to find a sidecar for this bike so my son who is 9 and suffers from autism could ride with me. I have recently found a vetter terraplane that needs some work but sounds reasonable for $500. Just wondering if this would be ok with this bike as the vetter is bigger then most sidecars I have seen. Also is this a reasonable price?

$500 is an absolute steal. It will bring about $1500 normally. Keep in mind, however, that the sidecar is only the start. Unless this is currently mounted to a Sportster, finding or fabricating mounts for a sidecar they stopped making 30 years ago can cost twice what you are paying for the car. Take your son with you when you look at it. A Terraplane is an easy one to get in and out of, but if he is a little bit claustrophobic, it may not be the best choice. A friend's wife once called theirs "a coffin with a window". They moved up to a Formula 2 and she was much happier.

On the other hand, the closed in characteristic might be more like a security blanket to him and be ideal.

Price on the sidecar is good. Matchup with Sporty not as good. Long sidecar with long frame/short bike with short frame.
Sportys don't handle the heavier sidecars well.

The one we sell the most for Sportys is the 563 Tour Velorex.
Second is 562 Cruiser (not as nice but same classic body for less $).
