1977 BMW R 100S. Was offered a Hitchiker sidecar for $1600. Year of the chair unknown. Chair seems to be in good shape. Is this a good match and a fair price.

Have drove a sidecar rig for a few miles with my SO in the chair, what a blast. I think it is proably time to take the plunge.
I realize that hacks drive a lot different and will need to learn how to set up the chair to the bike, but that is part of the fun.

Thanks,
Carl St5ark

A Hitchhiker is a good fit for your bike.
For a Standard single(160#)the MSRP was $1,895.00 1n 1984 and $2,395.00 in 1994. the last year of production.
Use your own judgement on value.

i have had Hitchhikers since 1990. currantly have 2. a 90 and a 93. do you know whether it has an air shock or a torsion bar suspension. that would help determine the year.

The present owner of the hitchiker sidecar only has a stained, faded blue print with instalation instructions. Hitchiker is printed in the lower right hand corner of the print. This is how the chair was identified. I could find no name tags or serial numbers. The tire is a 13 inch mounted on a mag type rim. The frame is constructed of 1"x2" tubing and is rectangular in shape. There is a corner to corner frame member of the same material. It has a torsion axle. The fiberglass tub is attached tothe frame with 4 half inch bolts. Paint is good with a few minor scratches.

Where can I find info on the Hitchiker sidecar company. Can't seem to google up any details.

Thanks, Carl

Hello Carl, the sidecar you are describing is about 1992. 1993 didn't have a diagonal frame brace. is the fender mounted to the sidecar body or to a metal loop on the outsde frame rail ? if you can get a copy of the Jan.-Feb. 05 issue of the Sidecarist it has an article i wrote about Hitchhiker. i have quite a bit of old Hitchhiker literature, advertising and specs. let me know what i can help with.

The fender is attached to a pipe loop that comes off of the frame.
Would Dauntless be a good place to start for the subframe for the bike?
Thanks to all who replyed
