New Sidecar
I have always wanted a vintage bike and I have always wanted a hack. Sunday I got both. 1975 R75 hack with Velorex 562. After the initial getting used to phase I drove it 80 miles home and it ticked like a swiss watch. It was a really good buy (in comparison with the prices I've been seeing) and driving it was a really fun challenge. Afirst time driver and I made the 80 mile trip home. Anyway, I'm looking forward to good times and a little wrenchin.
Cheers

Welcome to the madness...these things are a ton of fun and it sounds like you have a pretty nicely balanced outfit there. Please read the books by Hal Kendall that you can download free from this site and also take the time to practice before getting overconfident. The link for Hal's books is in my signature below.
Oh No, I got the books downloaded and read them BEFORE I bought the hack. I also read all of Dave Hough's stuff. After about 1 hour of driving the rig in a parking lot (including flying the car exercises) I took off for home. Right now I'm even still slowing waaaayyy down in right and left turns, as well as resting my thigh on the seat and hanging all the way over (per the Dave Hough stuff) until I get acclamated. I don't think I'm ever going to see the dark side of 45MPH on this rig, I have a two-wheeler for that.
Anyway thanks for the advice and welcome. I'll probably be begging airhead maintenance ideas for this munster pretty soon (although the bike was in incredibly good shape and has a newer hack conversion.)
By the by, if there are any NE Ohio hack drivers around I sure could use hands on tips and tricks.
lived in Cleveland for 60 yrs. live in Berlin center now. will be in Garfield Hts. tomorrow. or you are welcome to come out here.

Did you know tomorrow is Oktoberfest Bike night at Quaker Steak in Valey View? I was going to look for a dummy with a goldilocks wig and lederhosen for the hack. Anyway, we will have to work something out.
Cheers
Toss a little soft ballast in the trunk and you won't have to hang off.
Even Dave H. usually only does that if someone's watching. Some of us aren't above playing to the stands occasionally. I'd never do it myself of course. Heh,Heh.

If you want to hang off fine but don't think it is a necessary thing to do to ride a sidecar outfit quickly and safely. You DO NOT have to be a gymnist!! Throw in some ballast as Lonnie suggested and practice practice practice.
