Nana has made her last trip.
Hello Friends,
Nana our Irish Setter / Golden Retriever bread made her last trip.
On Sunday we made our last rig ride into the mountains and a 3 1/2 km hike into the rainforest crawling up a riverbed and she was making good and relatively strong. Ran even nearly a km at30-35km/h beside the rig.
Monday afternoon the aches started, today she was only a shadow of her own, couldn't even pee or drink water. Therefore short before dawn during the golden hour the veterinarian gave her first Morphine and a few minutes later let her rest....down in the farm close to the river.
The cancer was always stronger, but I am sure her last weeks she enjoyed our rides and hikes.
Best wishes to all and keep your boots on.

Very sorry about your loss. We lost our pup last year while we were in Colorado and she was boarded here at home in California. Couldn't even be with her when she went...She was a real sweetie of a dog and I still miss her all the time.
It's good that you can have memories of having your buddy in the hack riding along with you...that's a treasured memory, for sure...sounds like she has an honored resting place also.
I believe God gave us dogs to love us unconditionally...kind of like how He loves us...so I also believe that our buddies will meet us there when we get there....
Hang onto those memories...
Bob
Condolences Sven. Losing a pet is like losing a child.
Adopt another soon, you'll be doing both of you a favor.
Very sorry
Thank you for the condolence,
2 more dogs that love fish fooder too, 2 cats, one guinea pig, a turtle, hundreds of fish and frogs and quite a few birds nesting around the house... forgot the wild squirrel nesting now 5 years consecutively in a tank of a Horex Consul 2 meters beside my lathe...
(Funny when she observes me while working.)
I guess I have already enough new sidecar buddies.
I have a calm consiency and am only frightened how fast a cancer can consume a strong body. Seems like my old saying: "Attitude makes the difference!" Not always will turn out in a measurable result of longer
life. Only it can help in the way you accept things.
Well Grandmother tough me: "its not important how long you live, but very important how intensive you live."
And here we go.

Definitely a dead pet hurts, but a family member or friend way more. And still years later.
Good bless you all.

Peter Pan,
I always read your postings. You are a kind and knowledgeable person. Soo sorry for the loss of "Nana", your special companion.
Sorry for the loss of Nana, but we're glad you offered her the opportunity to ride. That's more than many people get.

sorry to hear of this Sven, a good pet is hard to replace, condolences for the loss, crawf.
Sven, sorry to hear about Nana. It was the loss of Ralfy that lead to me finding Archie and rescuing him from the pound. That lead to finding my first sidecar rig. That lead to putting the Liberty on the Harley and being permanently on three wheels instead of two! Something I thought would never happen. Life is good on three wheels, better when your K-9 buddy is by your side!
Thank you friends for your condolence.
The worst part was yesterdays arguing with miss Daughter.
I had announced it long enough that this "supposed" to be egoistic behaviour of leaving each weekend was for to give Nana a good end and hopefully do it together with the kids.
But for the kids were TV and Playstation more important, then listening to what I tried to teach them.(As a Vietnam veteran tought me)
"Remember you live nowยท"
Live now, tomorrow might be too late.
Your Sven Peter
Condolences for your loss. My JJ (just about breaks me up to think about her) left our world just shy of three years ago. Dog's are great. Hope you've got some good pictures of your doggie. They go well with the memories.
Kids are great too - I hope that works out for you. Not a Viet vet, but experiencing some of the same... problems. As you said, "Remember you live now." Been living life to enjoy it myself... it is a precious gift that could be lost anytime.
Be well, Sven.
Life has to be lived from second to second. Specially when you got a second (and a few more) changes. Might be in another life I had been a cat?
Sven
Sorry for your loss and I hope time helps heal the wound for you.
I have three hack pooches, myself. Any one would be a tremendous loss to me. I have had a ton of good rides with each and every one of them over the past couple of years. I recently happened across this video. The dog in the video has passed as well, I understand. Still, his owner looks as if he really enjoyed his riding partner quite a bit while he had the time to share with him here on earth. The video expresses exactly the sort of memories I want to keep of my hack pooches. Many rides and much fun together.
Again, sorry for your loss, but try to remember those times that are not lost to you and your riding partner.
Pat thanks alot. I passed quite a while watching You tube dogs riding. (should be at work 2 hours ago)
If the Ural would have more power, water cooling and a low gear set beside the double traction it world be fine for our mountains and the other 2 dogs.
Sven
So sorry to hear of your loss Sven. Remember the good times my friend.
