Yes it's fast, but is it a sidecar (or a fendered wheel)?

I don't know who I am to say, but to be a sidecar record shouldn't it be with a sidecar and a person aboard, just M2CW, and like I said before who am I to say.

well if you need a passenger in a sidecar to set a record, then if you are racing a car with 4 seats should you heve 4 people in it . also if you have a motorcycle with a back seat should you have to carry a passenger? anyway if you want to be the passenger come on.

Fastfreddie don't get me wrong nothing but respect for you and your rig, I don't have a set big enough to attempt such at feat. Maybe in my younger days but for now 75 on interstate is fast enough for me. But I would like to see a rig that with a person in the hack that could approach the speeds you were doing. Like I said before I don’t have any room to speak as I have only been hacking for less than a year, and on two wheels for over 40. Helmets off to you and keep on moving on, for you are the man!

And as for being the passenger where do I sign up, young enough to know better old enough to do it anyways................lol. Has anyone done it with a passenger and if not, maybe I have found something to do with all this extra time I have.............now I wish I hadn't read this as the brain is working over time. Well this is going to be a long winter.

Lance,
In 1988 Pam Baker (driver) and Maria Briggs (monkey) set a world speed record for passenger sidecars of 141.116 MPH at the Bonneville salt flats. The rig was a 1000cc BMW K100 with a Turbocharger/Mark II Bingham chair.
The old rules for records were: The average speed of two way runs within a specified amount of time.
Passengers were banned by the SCTA officials after that.
I heard (at the Tahoe Rally) last year that the new timing association running the Bonneville Speed trials has changed that ruling and a new passenger record has been set. I don't know any more about this, but that's my idea of sidecar racing, with a monkey.

Fast Eddie has done himself proud, but it's a different world with different parameters.

No disrespect intended,

Lonnie

I agree that FastEddie is the man, and I have nothing but respect for him and his accomplishment. But I would love to see the monkey as we know it, brought back into the picture. I have always looked for that little corner of the world to fit into, and this has started the old brain a turning. And being the out of the box looking person that I am, maybe I have found the “find the need, fill the need” area I have been searching for. With so many different direction this could go the possibilities are endless, just a little more fuel for the fire for this long days when the cold keeps us indoors and allows the freedom of the brain to go into overdrive. Oh why, oh why did I ever start this, my poor wife will surely leave me………..lol.

Most motorcycles have a pillion seat so why should it not be required to carry a pillion passenger when attempting land speed records? I find the sidecars should have a passenger thing a load of bull. If you want to take your road going sidecar out for a ride do you refuse to ride it if you haven't got a passenger handy?

Congratulations Eddie!! I have never raced Maxton (and being out here in California I probably never will) but I hear its very bumpy. Makes that speed even more amazing.

Sidecar, sidewheel, tricycle, or whatever it is, it has a speed record at Maxton that will be hard to beat.

Good on ya, Fast Eddie!
