Moving motorcycle & sidecar in a trailer - newbie questions
got the rig yesterday. tow truck worked out well, but expensive, of course. the bike is a honda CB900C, 1980 flavor. hack is a Jawa, and haven't looked to see the year yet, but it's a great looking sidecar, although it's missing it's seat (has a homemade seat, which is basically a piece of plywood...)
the bike is in better shape than I'd expected, dusty but fairly clean. looks like it was put away with the fuel petcock off, so the carbs are probably just full of dust - I'll have to separate the float bowls at least...
will be tuning up & changing fluids today..hopefully get it started.
Post pix of the sidecar and the serial # of the Jawa unit. Maybe we can come close to the year of manufacture and model. If the ID plate is present and legible it will be on the left rear frame gusset of the sidecar. The serial # is also stamped in the gusset if the ID plate is missing.
Pix of the mounting setup and positions will also help in seeing if it is mounted safely. Some of us may even have helpful suggestions that you may find useful.

here are a couple pics of the bike. As you can see, it's a Jawa Velorex. And, the girl is cuter than me. I'll get better pics soon showing the mounting & angles. Looks like the bike is tipped slightly towards the hack, and the hack slightly towards the bike. They are bolted together with adjustable struts - looks securely fastened. The bike has a damper attached between it's frame and the front forks, I'm assuming to make steering more stable.
Sidecar is a 560 Velorex model. The car should not lean in to the bike. You will find aligning instructions and info at the Velorex, USA site. You have the windshield brackets which are hard to find and perhaps the nose emblem (can't tell from the pix) another rarity.
We have the windshield, trunk lock, and a few other parts available for this (30 year old?) vintage car.

Your pix may be too large to upload in the Album section. Try resizing them to lower KB's.
maybe you can't tell from the photos, but the windshield is intact, although dirty. I have the trunk lock & key, although there is nothing to lock. Yes, it does also have the nose emblem.
what I need is a good seat for it, the red things piled up on it are the "seat" which is just a plywood and foam contraption. I'd like to be able to put my daughter's car seat in it (would need some sort of seatbelt for that) and also a seat for wife.
*cool* on vintage sidecar!! =)
The seats are not available. You might try looking at boat seats for a folding seat. Or earlier compact car seats. Racing seats are inexpensive but not very comfortable. A lap belt is easily attached at the rear body mount bolts.

thanks for the tip on boat seats. looks like I can buy a folding seat fairly cheap that could be bolted in (maybe w/wing bolts for easy removal). It would be fairly weatherproof & fold down to access the space behind the seat. I'd like to be able to remove it to put in the kid seat easy.
was able to read the sidecar plate today - mfg in 1974. I had figured it was same as the motorcycle - about 1980. wonder if it was on a bike before this one?
