mounting velorex to a road king

I am mounting a velorex to a 2010 road king for a friend. The lower mounts are no problem, but I am having trouble finding a suitable place for the upper mounts. If I attach the front upper mount to the frame, it is in the way of the forward brake control, and I cant find a place to attach the rear upper. Is it ok to attach the the crash bars ??
I installed a velorex on my superglide a few years back, so not my first install.

Any help here would be appreciated

Thanks, Jeff

Three suggestions here.

First: Never use the decorative engine guards of a motorcycle to mount a sidecar. The sidecar has to be mounted to a structural frame member either directly or mounted to a frame mounted sub-frame bracket. These guards will support freeway pegs and driving lights and may help to protect the cases in a tipover, not a sidecar.

Second: The Velorex sidecars and mounts are too light to support a RoadKing safely unless the bike is only to be used in slow driving situations like Parade work. They will work on the lighter Harley Cruisers and Sportys just fine but the touring baggers are just too heavy of a bike for these sidecars. The Velorex line was never intended to be attached to an 800# motorcycle. The mounting system is the same one that was originally designed for the 350cc and 500cc Jawa motorcycles. These bikes were 300# motorcycles. The suspension is also too light to support the ElectraGlides well for decent handling.
Mounting any non Harley sidecar to a late Electra Glide will require a subframe mount set for a safe application.
To my knowledge no sub-frame supplier will knowingly make a mount system for a Velorex/2010 RK application.

Three: DON'T DO IT! (unless you know how to make it a free leaner rig).
