Motorcycle Museum
I stumbled into a diamond in the rough this week. We were in northwestern Indiana on business and found a Harley dealer out in the middle of no where. His sign said HD, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Museum so thought we might as well take a look. Stopped in and asked about the museum, its in another building admission $5.00 unless you make a purchase then it's free. Everybody needs another t-shirt right, and besides your expectations aren't that high for 5 bucks and out in the middle of corn fields. Was I surprised, the old boy that owned the business has his office in the museum and will give you a guided tour of everything in the place if you like conversation. He has a variety of everything imaginable, motorcycles, scooters, British, WW vintages, sidecars, service cars, racing bikes, racing hacks and some cars and trucks thrown in. It is one of the best personal collections of heritage style motorcycles I've seen. He owns all of them, all but one runs and he has ridden everything in the building. We planned on a quick walk through and spent 1-1/2 hours enjoying the visit with a true motorcycle lover.
The dealership is Kerstings Harley Davidson, North Judson Indiana. If you look on the map south of Lake Michigan, find Merriville and HWY 30 go east about 20 miles to HWY 421 south, about 15 miles south is HWY 10 east to North Judson, when you get in town take 39 south about 3 miles to the dealership.
There's no excitement in the trip there is straight and flat, but if you like motorcycle history you'll enjoy the destination.
