I don't want to beat this topic to death, but I figured some people had stopped reading my thread re: getting Luke out of his sidecar. I've posted some pictures of an idea for "cutting and pasting" the side of the hack to make it kinda like an FII. They're in by album (Ron_n_Luke's Ride). If any of you have fiberglass experience, I'd welcome your comments regarding the feasibility of what's shown. I'd need to have my "friendly" bodyshop do the work so I'll talk with them too -- especially with respect to the cost.
Thanks,
Ron

Luna, if you go to albums and look for the pictures for "Ron_n_Luke's Ride" you'll see what we're considering. Thanks for your input. Please let me know if you have a problem with this and I'll just e-mail the pics to you.

Found it. Idea looks great to me. Make sure the body guys roll the edges of the fiberglass so that its nice and rigid at the openings. On mine, I bent in-floor-heat tubing to the shape that I wanted, then rolled the fiberglass around it to create an edge.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably talk with him in the next couple of days.

Well .... bummer! The body shop neighbor says he's really too swamped with MC and auto work right now (although he thought it was a neat idea). He figured it would be in the shop much of the summer, which I sure don't want.
Guess I'd better start doing some weight training and back exercises.

Hi Ron, I've been thinking about the seat tilting option some more. The idea that occurred is to use a scissor jack like cars in the 70's had. The ones I'm thinking of collapse to about 2.5 inches and extend to about 9 inches and used a long collapsible crank. Mount the jack under the rear of the seat and cut a small hole with a grommet in the rear of the car and crank Luke up. It's not a great idea but it's economical.

Thanks David.
That was pretty much like one of the options I was exploring. One problem I face with the "seat tilt" idea is that the sides of the seat back hit the latches on the nose when it's tilted forward. In fact that's what limits how far I can tilt the seat. I'm not sure if there's enough detail in my photos to sow this. Maybe I could move the latches to the outside of the sidecar. Have to think about that.
Thanks again.
Ron
