Yesterday I was following a newish Goldwing with a sidecar attatched. I wasn't aware of anything different until the road turned to the left. The bike LEANED INTO the turn while the car stayed flat and level!! Right turn, same thing, the bike leaned independent of the sidecar. The sidecar looked to be a modern motovation or similar brand. Has anyone seen this?? I know I wasn't dreaming. Could this be a homebuilt mounting system? Could a large "hinge" in line with the bottom frame tubes and the sidecar chassis be strong enough to "pull" the sidecar along with a reliable result?? I couldn't get a close look at the rig, I got caught at the light. I'm really interested in duplacating this set-up on my Moto-Guzzi/Ural rig. Comments??
Thanks in advance for your help.

Doug,
I posted a reply to your comments at SCT but did not see right away that you posted here as well. So, in case you did not see the reply there or if some others did not either or if they were waitng for a reply here and did not get one from anyone else or if the price of rice is going up and th ecreek is rising here is a copy of it.
>>Doug,
Leaners similar to as you descibed are nothing new in the world of
sidecars and have been around for many years. These have many time been
called 'articulating ' sidecars to define tham differently than th
eflexit or equalean style where the sidecar also leans. I have never
seen one as you described though with the large 'piano hinge' pivot.
Typically th ebest geometry is to have the pivot point as close to the
centerline of th ebike as possible and as low as feasable. This
prevents th esidecar from being pulled to the side as the bake is
leaned over as much as possible. Some rigs have the front mount higher
than the rear slightly to induce a steering efect by the sidecar wheel
as the bike is leaned over.
These rigs are typically happy with a light sidecar as th ebalance
ratio is no longer and issue unless they have the option to be hooked
up as a solid mount too. ARMEC makes a version of this sidecar and a
member here built one that is said to work well. The homebuilt on ewas
done by hooking a nelorex to a valkarie. This as a rigid would not be a
very well balanced rig but ,as mentioned earlier, light is best with an
articulating outfit.<

That would take all the fun out of driving a hack IMHO. My kids love to be lifted when they ride in the hack.
