On December 19th, 2008 my rig parked at my friend's place was lost in a fire. It was a total loss of house and bike. Thank God nobody was hurt, but what a fire!!!!

PS: I MISS MY RIG DEEPLY. I never imagined how attached I was until it was taken from me. She was a 2005 Vstar 1100 silverado classic with a bimmer sidecar with rumble seat.

Wow! That was a fierce blaze. Looks like the Fire Dept. was able to save the lot and that's about all.

Sorry about everyone's loss.

Lonnie

You will love this story:
There were no fie hydrants and the city's plan in the event of fire was to pump from the river on oneside or the ponds on the other. Problem is it is winter and everything is frozen. By the time they got water on the blaze the house was gone, as was the jeep parked outside. The neighbor's roof as well! The fire as a result was so intense, the steel "H" beams making up the frame of the house melted. There was nothing left afterwards but cooling slag where the foundation was, and that was where my rig was parked. It was uterly destroyed to the point where it is impossible to even identify the bike/sidecar as it too melted/exploded and fused into the other molten metals.

I hope you have lots of pics for the insurance company so you can verify your rig's condition before the fire. Good Luck.

Sorry for your loss of rig. Good luck in replacement of it. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Again, best of luck in quick replacments.

On a different note:

Your tug looked like a CJ unit to me when I first saw it. Also, what were the mods to the trunk hinges? What was the windshield on the hack taken from? Any specific pics of the trunk hinges or the windshield and it's mounts? I am thining of modifying my Ural trunk a bit for one of the hack dogs to ride in the trunk area at times, but I don't want the lid to fly away and to be too much of a windbreak when riding. Just thiking of how to do some mods and your pic brings some possible thoughts to mind.

Yes, it is a CJ {bimmer}, the windshield was hand made, but you can order it from http://www.trans-moto.com

Sorry, but I only get one of the photos to load from what you posted frpm photobucket. The only photo I see is of the back of the rig, at the trunk.

Yeah, got them to work. Thanks. Some nice mods in various places.
Too bad about your rig and what happened. Hope you are back in a rig soon.
Again, thanks for the info and pics.

Was the large braces for the trunk lid somethng you fabricated or modified/pulled from an auto or such? I was thinking of doing such, but didn't know what the source would be for such. How did the back seat in trunk end up affecting the ride of the hack?

The hack came with this mod. I added the luggage rack, spare tire holder, halogen light, stereo, large brake light, and tool box.
