I've got a Watsonian Oxford hitched to my GL1500 it takes an adult and two children comfortably. If I was your side of the pond I'd be looking at the Hannigan sidecars. I think one of those would look nice on a Wing.

I have a 98 Wing, with Hannigan Astro 2+2. Looks good, and I believe your wife and son could ride very comfortable. Fuel mileage is around 30mpg, if at 65mph or lower.

Keep in mind for the GL1500 and GL1800 many sidecar frames are not long enough so not all will fit. We offer bike specific mounts for your bike as well as sidecars. Our least expensive sidecar the Kenna i http://www.dmcsidecars.com/gallery/kenna-sidecars/ in the long frame version is only $4095 and comes with the bike specific mounts. However if your son is small you should get a two seat sidecar as for safety the heaviest passenger needs to be in the sidecar and if he is small both your wife (or you, no reason your wife can not ride a GL1500 with a sidecar, my wife did when we had one) should be in the sidecar. We also make the Kenna double in a two seat version called the Kenna double. $5295 for the long frame http://www.dmcsidecars.com/sidecars/kenna-double/ And of course we also offer many more expensive sidecars.
