After all these years: First Beemer I've owned. I've worked on this rig during the last three years and now it's mine.
44,400 miles on it. New sidecar block tires on all three corners, dual dampers (short, short bars), Krauser bags, early URAL sidecar (with added Harley Tombstone taillight), Tank bag, etc.
Took the first run on it with the bride this morning. A bit quieter than our Harley rig. Kinda like a vacuum cleaner sound. It does pull hard but the ergonomics are something else.

Nice looking rig Lonnie, wish I had that kind of ground clearance.

Congratulations Lonnie,
it is another kind of riding, as you soon will find out. Not as much torque from the botoumn will ask for free reving.
At least that is what I suspect. Sophie the Ural is for me the first own Beemer like bike and each day I have to learn something new. Way different to any other solo or rig I have owned before. I do not know the exact meaning, but everybody with experience on the boxers insists in:"Do not LUG the engine".

I understand it as do not ask for force when you are at low revs as the crank and connection rods will suffer. Check for the cilinder head temperatures to be in reasonable range and the carbs well syncronized.
Best of all luck.
Sven

Really nice looking rig. Definitely a Harley, but I think you'll grow to love it.
