Hi, got off the phone with my insurance agent and I am trying to insure a Dnepr with sidecar. He said the companies (Farmers, Foremost) he deals with do not know what it is (the Dnepr) and will not write a policy. Does anyone out there have an insured Dnepr and which insurance company do you have your coverage with. I'm getting antsy and want to register and take a ride in the mountains.
thanks,
Motomel

You may want to also post your question at a yahoo group called 'dneprheads'.

Try going to Nationwide there recmoned by the AMA and if they don't know what a Dnepr is tell them it a Ural or the same thing as a Ural.

If you lie to them or try to pass it off as something it isn't, you take the chance that they won't honor a claim if something happens.

After owning and insuring my Dnepr, I guess I could offer some help. First, what make of vehicle does it list on your pink slip? Since my Dnepr was of a kit type origin, I had to go the special construction route on title/registration, but AAA gave me full coverage @ Approx $255 a year. Since I had the Diesel engine conversion I valued it at $10,000.

Even though I have a special construction on my title, I still have Dnepr listed as the make of my bike on my insurance.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I found an agent in Albuquerque (Progressive Insurance)who wrote a liability policy for me for $79. (50, 100/25K)

Well the folks at Progressive bailed when it actually came time to write the policy but I did find another company who wrote the policy and I finally got registered yesterday and took the Dnepr for a ride.
