I bite the bullet and decide to get hack'd
I have decided to get a Hannigan GTL for my 2009 GL1800 Goldwing. Thanks to a lot of input from many of you and others - I appreciate everyone's help and advice (at least at this point - I may be cuss'in later - just kidding LOL) I was lucky enough to trade a ride on my new 1800 for a ride on a hack'd 1500 and we both enjoyed ourselves a great deal and I felt much better about my decision. What I was coming back to the well for (so to speak) was to see if anyone had any good advice on video/e-training safety training or books to read on safety training. I am signed up on a list for a STEP course but it may be a while. Please let me know by posting or dropping me an e-mail tony@ladt.cc
Congrats! I know you'll enjoy this rig. I have the same same setup. Both the wife & I have a lot of fun with it - mostly longish trips.
As far as reading: You can download Hal Kendall's excellent stuff right from this website. David Hough's "Driving a Sidecar Outfit" is available from Whitehorse Press. Also very good and recently updated, I believe.

Welcome to the world of Sidecaring. Halβs books are good but you may want to think about taking a class there are a number of them around the state now.

Hi ynot: I 2nd the suggestion for the class. Even tho I read the recommnended books and tried a "few" parking lot excercises, I learned much from the S/TEP class which I didn't take until after 6 months of driving. Welcome to sidecars. They're so much fun that my wife wanted her own rig after many years of "I don't have any interest in learning to ride" -- she is enrolled in a class this weekend.

Ditto on the classes. I got a lot out of the S.T.E.P. class I took from Tub Maxin in Louisville a couple of years ago.
I've got the same rig. I thing you (and your passenger) will love this outfit.
