HomeMade SideCar
New mwmber here and just wondering if anyone has built a homemade sidecar before? I have a Honda Goldwing 1999 Se and was thinking about building one. I like the Champion style just not the price of them LOL. If anyone has done this please post some pics of how you did or any info that may help.

If you don't have Wingnuts abilities or patience, you can start out with one of Jay's Kenna frames. http://www.dmcsidecars.com/Sidecars/sidecar%20frames.htmThen build a body to meet your needs.
How about find used ? you can save a lot. sure it will take time, but building will take lot more time too.
Thanks for the info. Wingnut is the metal man for sure, not sure I can match him. I have built a few metal, wood and fiberglass projects but not to his level but still good info to work with, thanks again.
A friend from Steve Saunders Goldwing web site ref. this site to me. But after seeing the thread wingnut put out on his home built sidecar I may just keep looking for a used one. Funds are tight fo my toy projects and I thought I may just build my on as I had extra cash to do the project but I think I'll find a used one that needs repair and go from there.

Hey SE!
Here is my build thread on a used sidecar that I'm just finishing up. Hoping to have 'er mounted and rolling this weekend!!

Thanks very much you've done a great job with that unit. Just wondering how much would one like your in the condition it was when you purchased it would cost? This will give me a ball park price to shop around for. Thanks again

SE,
I picked the unit up for $700. Paint was also $700. new wheel & tire $150. Misc parts & supplies prolly $300
Roughly $2000 into it. then of course there is the bike...
Only 2k that's still less then I have seen used going for so it sounds like you got a deal in it for sure. I believe I'll do as you and find a nice used one that need maybe paint or interior instead of trying to build something. I'll keep looking hopefully I will find a $700 unit as well. Thanks

Yea, I think quite a deal. But I haven t put an interior in it nor a cover, so the cash register is still clanking away! LOL!! Plus the time it's taking. I picked it up in November and have been working on it ever since. I had hoped to be on the road already, but alas, more to be done!
Well your off to a good start with it and once finished I know you'll love it. The main reason I am looking is for my 2 sons, they love to ride as much as the wife so I thought a 2 seater sidecar would be the trick, now the trick is finding one LOL. I'm in no hurry and if I keep looking I'm sure I run across something.
