At the risk of being a little off topic here's a warning that may or may not pertain to some.
At one time to be able to ride at a good speed in the twisty hilly areas we would watch for the upper portion of the telephone poles on the other side of a hill to see if the road turned left or right beyond the hill or went straight. The idea was that the telephon poles woudl follow the road. So as we came over the blind hill at speed it helped us anticipate what lay on the other side of it. Basically a foolish technique at best.
The 'warning' here is that the poles do not always follow the road. I ended up in a cornfield a few years ago as the poles went to the right and the road went to the left on the other side of a blind hill. Also almost ran over an amish buggy once. Best policy? Slow down until you can actually see what lies ahead!!

Luke and I came across an MC accident this morning. Please be careful out there.

On a related matter, we had an MC rider die in a corn field here in northern IL last week. He called 911 twice but the receiving station didn't have the GPS equipment needed to find him and the towers that picked up his called didn't help much. The bottom line for us: (1) be sure your cell phone has GPS capability (most manufactured in the past two years DO have it but you can check it out with your service provider phone company) and (2) check with your local police departments to see if they have cell phone GPS location capability. If they do NOT, lobby to get it! The life you save could be your own.

Ron,
That cell phone GPS only works if the area you are calling from has enhanced 911( E911). My county was supposed to have this on line last March. Still not set up yet. We really needed it a couple of times for Search and Rescue operations.
We also recently had a motorcycle fatality. 22 year old fireman missed a turn on a mountain pass and got stuffed under a guard rail. This was most likely operator error.
Even more recently, a retired policeman from Utah had to be Life Flighted to Boise after he cut the deer in half that jumped out in front of him. His wife was on the back and sustained some broken ribs. The suprise deer is hard to anticipate, but this accident occured at 7:30 in the morning when the deer are moving. By the way, if you see one deer by the road, there is another one or two that you don't see.

Mark - Correct! That's why I suggested that we lobby for this feature if our local police/county does not have it.
