I know I'm gonna get a whole bunch of "WHY"s, but is there such a thing? In a 16", other than a sportbike 100/90-16 tire. I need to replace my vintage 70s Carlisle tire and would like to get something rated to handle higher speeds. I occaisionally hit 80mph, even 90mph, with no one in the hack of course.

My limited experience with tires tells me you'll be fine. High speed tires are rated for SUSTAINED SPEEDS in excess of 100mph. I would certainly be worried about old Carlisles, however. Is there no dry rot present?

Yes, there is dry rot. That's why I want to replace it. The hack has only been on my bike for a couple months now. Any reccomendations on good quality 3.00x16" tires and where?

Thanks,
Gary

I replaced my sidecar wheel with a Honda 16 inch aluminum rim. I am currently running a Kenda 100-90 dual sport tire. It doesn't have very aggressive treads. It's predominantly a highway tire. I just put 1000 miles on it at freeway speeds without a hitch.

Just look for a V rated tire all tho with short squirts to the big MPH numbers any of the better tires would be OK, the V rated tires are better because they handle the road heat on a hot day a lot better.

Try a Mitas (Velorex) 3.25x16 M12 4 ply sidecar tire.
They just keep going and going and going and...................
List price is $88.00.

I run a car tire on the Wing, so not directly comparable, but.. the "h" rated slow speed tires are rated to 130 mph or so, the "v" rated are higher.

I guess I thought motorcycle tires were in the same ballpark in that it likely wouldn't matter for a rig? Is this an incorrect assumptiom?
