Hello to everyone, here are some pictures of a 05' police road king and 02' ultra sidecar rig that I put together last summer with the help of the USCA.was a scary ride at first, until I got the alignment angles correct.now its a joy to pilot.gets more attention than my other bikes.Ive been inexplicably fascinated with sidecars for about 10 years now.dreams can come true with hard work and a little help from above! Happy trails

Hi Mike, I'm in the process of mounting a 88 HD car on a 04 police special edition RK. Would you be willing to send me your phone # for questions if i get hung up in the process? I have bought all the parts the dealer told me I would need except the longer clutch cable. my email is dad@softcom.net, Thanks, Dick. p.s. I use the name Midntstr as I also ride a 05 yamaha midnight silverado. Is that pearl paint on your bike? Looks real nice. I'm located 15 mi. south of Sacramento Ca.

Hey,Dick the sidecar is pearl white and the RK is birch white the saddle bags were pretty banged up from police service,so I had a painter spray them for a $100 bucks. He did'nt match the sidecar color correctly even though I gave him the paint code. One day I'll have the rig painted professionally.money is tight nowadays, just glad the sidecar was'nt red and the RK blue or I'd had to have worn 3-D glasses to ride it! By the way,I was also told that I would have to change the clutch cable, but I did'nt. Also my RK has ABS and it was'nt a problem either. Feel free to post all your questions here as everyone is very helpful.

Thanks for the prompt reply mike. my RK is blue. The sidecar is another non matching blue with rainbow pinstripes. It came off a matching 88 Electra Glide. The guy I got it from said it was bought new by a lady in the Air Force. Only had about 1000 miles on the car before it was removed. Been stored all the time till I got it. Dick

you see that a lot - somebody bought one with NO IDEA what they were getting, took it off the first week - mount kit gone sitting in a barn

thats our source for sidecars and parts now that hd quit making them..

*sigh*

MY situation was very similar to you two gentlemens stories. A local doctor bought the sidecar new with a 02' ultra classic electra glide. Put 200 miles on rig in 6 years.sold it to a dentist and he brought it to the local dealer to have sidecar removed, and left it there for sale($3700). I bought it and the dentist was gracious enough to ride over to my house so I could remove the mounts.I then had to wait 1 year till I could find a cheap tug to pull it.found a used police road king for $7000.

I got everything except the stabilizer fork mounting plate, rear master cylinder and reservoir and brake pedal as the dentist had to ride the bike home.then I ordered a oil pressure sending unit relocation 45 degree elbow, rollover switch and parts mentioned above.consulting with this forum made things easy.

ya, those are the parts that almost always end up staying on the bike - and they are not exactly cheap parts

at least you got it all done

You say you like the police air seat.I do also.it helps smooth out the hacks harsh ride, and has a nostalgic look as well.
