hannigan sidecar
hay marc in alabama here, just finished attaching my conti classic to my suzuki V STROM 1000. so far so good.i just got off the phone with the general manager of hannigan and was turned away, will not sell me any parts for my conti classic! WHY? when i told him who helped me with the frame mounts and set up he got very cold, and told me NO parts becouse DMC sidecar was my connection any one know what gives. i need a brake caliber. its a brembo he admitted that, but nothing else. when i contacted Jay at DMC he was as puzzled as i was. any thoughts on this? there are 2 possible calibers, single pin double pin my caliber is missing help
Apparently Hannigan has an ax to grind with DMC and since you've been dealing with Jay you are caught in the bight of the line.
DMC and Velorex aren't on the best of terms either.
Sometimes competitors clash and the consumer suffers as a result of it.
Good luck in your search.
Lonnie
Tell Jay you need a part for a Texas sidecar,it's as bad as a kid with his own bat and ball and thing don't go his way in a game. Rudy
Too bad these venders don't realize that good customer service (even if they didn't sell it to you originally) would generate positive comments about their cooperation, and then lead others to purchase directly from them instead of their competition in the future. Our job as consumers would be to make sure we let others know who these venders are in both catagories so others can make informed choices.

Larry speaks the Truth! It's a shame that these "Vendors" just happen to be some of the more prominent in the Industry. Truely this could be an opportunity for other Vendors, that focus on their core Business Plan (Customer Service), and fill the Void.
Does this entire sad situation not seem quite odd and peculiar to you and the others? Could it be, as in most such tales of woe, there might be vital information omitted by the plaintiff?
Perhaps, prior to passing judgement and calling for the "hanging" of a long-standing and highly regarded company such as Hannigan, it would be the wise and prudent thing to explore the ENTIRE story further.
Again, just thoughts to ponder.
marc here, the whole story should be told, i purchased my car used, from a gentleman in tenn, the folks at hannigan were familiar with the car and the man seems he went to them for service, i spoke to hannigan about getting help mounting the conti classic to my suz dl 1000(V-strom). the said they could help , but they wanted the bike in their shop to do the work. due to time and distance this was not an option for me. i run a small mech shop and wanted to do the install my self. a firm believer in hands on learning. i searched the internet forums and web sites for hack help. the folks at DMC (jay&tara) were very helpful. jay answered all my question and concernce. they were able to supply me with all my needs. no problem. have been riding the rig for about a month now and no problems. when i decided to install a brake on the car, i naturally contacted hannigan since they built it where else would i go.well thats when this story started, the general manager at hannigan is the gentleman that fielded my call. he was attentive to my call and was helpful. until i told him that DMC was my hack connection he got very cold, said due to corp liability and yuda yuda yuda yah yah yah nah nah nah. B.S. he as much told me to go away. when i contacted DMC jay was as puzzled as i was. that is the story the whole story no names have been changed to protect anybody. i run a small bike repair shop and gas station, in buisness for my self for 25 years, never have i been so confused by a venders attitude,in my town all the shops get along and help each other, never know when somebody knows more than u do . if the guys at hannigan want to address the situation i would gladly open a dialoge with them. but back to the problem at hand i need brakes on my hack need a caliber pads and any info involved with this install.

Nobody is calling for a hanging. Of course there is no coin that is so thin it only has one side. But conversly, what Company, more so in this Economic Enviroment, would refuse service when they are in a position to help. Simple really.
But of course I for one, would welcome....."The Rest of the Story"
Marc, just read your post. Sounds as you described earlier, just more detail. Sorry if I changed the focus of this thread. I just happen to "work for a Customer Service Company, that happens to be an Airline.", and found this thread captivating. I hope you get your brake fixed. 🙂
PONYTAIL: Have you got your unit finished and on the road?? Sure hope so after all the work that you have done. Post a photo if it is done. THANKS, PHIL
