Guzzi Eldorado Suspension

I have a car on my 74 Guzzi Eldo. Its a 74 Spirit Eagle and I had it mounted by Doug Bingham thinking it would be easier to drive if it was set up properly.

I posted about it here

All good but the thing is so light I have it ballasted with about 85 lbs of lead.
Now the problem seems to be the suspension on the bike and the car. It seems to wallow and will wallow enough to swerve the bike when I shift... spooky.
I've had this bike for 20 years and done lots of two up and fully loaded riding. The shocks are original and I've adjusted them all the way up.
I looked at progressive shock but don't have a clue as to how to choose the springs. I'm sure the front end could be stiffer too. Also the sidecar suspension seems pretty light.
I know some of you have old Guzzis with hacks can someone point me in the right direction as to what I need to do to stiffen this beast up all around?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Presley

Oldtinker,
You might try Dave Quinn, Hagon Shocks in CT. He sent me a set of rear ones for my Guzzi 850-T3 set up with a California FriendshipII car on it. They seem to work well.

The Eagles are yery light (140#) cars with very light suspension. A (cycle salvage) shock from a heavier bike with the same length as your sidecar's would work here for a budget cost. You should have SAE sized shock bushings in the Eagle shock. Heavier fork oil will help from front end dive on the bike. Your rear bike shocks are probably OK if they work 2 up.
