Anybody see all the white HD sidecar rigs at the Inauguration today? What do the police depts use these rigs for other than parades?

I don't know what else police departments use them for, but I did see the ones in the parade today. I thought that was really cool, seeing all of them (I thought about twenty) riding in formation!

I'd bet there are enough parades in Washington to keep them busy, but with funerals and traffic control, I assume they must have a defined need there to have so many. Maybe they attach ice cream boxes to them and make some extra bucks between the parades? 🙂
Be interesting to chat with someone there who drives them for a living to see what all they do, huh? Maybe they even have a riding club or such.

When I was first researching sidecars, I read that DC Park Service puts them on their bikes every winter for the increased traction. VIP escorts and such. I missed the Irauguration. Would have liked to see the rigs.

The Hack rigs are used mostly for escort work and for rough weather traffic work in the northeast. (They don't fall down in the ice & snow).
The Motor Officers do have a bike club, it's called "The Blue Knights".
Like the firemen, Harley has a special FL bike available to them for a sweetheart deal if they opt to buy a personal bike and can prove they are an active or retired lawman.
