I think all you MG guys missed the boat. I had a '59 TR3 that was the next best thing to riding a motorcycle I ever had. Wish I'd kept it! Sold the TR, bought a '58 Rambler wagon that had real windows that rolled up and a real heater...

So let me get this right... you sold the TR-3 for a Rambler (I do like station wagons)and you say "We" missed some boat...???
LOL LOL...
I still have two MGBs and often think how much fun those cars are... ripping down through the back roads, top down, sah-weet exhaust note... oh man, I gotta go for a ride..
RobHey Rob, I tried to respond last night when I got back but it kicked me out when I clicked submit. Said "service unavailable". Lets see if it works now... Crazy choices of youth is what it was. I could throw everything I owned at the time in that Rambler. Drove it until my brother, being funny, asked how much rubber I could lay with it. I knew the transmission would slip so being funny myself, I pulled over, revved it up and punched it into low. BANG! rattle, rattle rattle. Tore the rear end out. Traded it for a mo-ped and bought a '52 Ford pickup for wheels...

HMMM.... SIDECARISTS... BRITISH SPORTS CAR ENTHUSIASTS... INSANITY.... A COMMON THREAD PERHAPS????
Yup... It is insanity I'm convined. I love Triumphs and Guzzis and MGs and Jaguars, helpless.
Try this place to look around and talk about MGBs.... http://www.mgexperience.net

Ah, the choices of youth, seemed so clear when we were doing some of those things didn't it...? I might have done some things diferently but the trip was a blast... still is.. 🙂

My Bud and I used to throw our Scuba gear behind the seats of our TD's when we went fishing in the mountains. We'd pay our way by recovering lost fishing gear and tackle boxes for people at resort docks and marinas.
We'd bundle up in the winter and drive around with the windshields down looking COOL. With no heaters it didn't take too much to fake it. The girls would be hunkered up to the dashboard trying to get a little engine heat and when another sports car would come by, we'd say "Look Comfortable" and we'd lean back, smile, beep twice and wave. As soon as they were out of sight it was back to the dashboard and trying to get a little heat again till the next one came by. I'm quite sure they were doing the same, but lookin' good! Old school sportycarring. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Sigh --- you guys must just be tooooo young. This ol' fart lusts over the TC and TF (never cared for the TD) but guess those were much before your times.

If anyone is interested, I have a buddy near here that has a half dozen Land Rovers in various stages that he would like to sell. All 1962 through 1974. And most all body styles. He's got a lot of parts too. He doesn't want to give the stuff away, but he's pretty motivated.
OOOPS! I thought this thread ws about Moto Guzzis...
