Correct Sidecar GL1000
Would like to put a PERIOD (1978) CORRECT SIDECAR on my 1978 GL-1000 which has Vetter equipment.
What or Where is info availible for sidecars used on the 1978 GL1000 when it was new????
Bike is orginal I bought it when it was just a couple years old.
John,
Craig Vetter made fairings, saddlebags, tour packs and sidecars that were used on the earlier GLs. His Terraplane Sidecar is still a favorite for GLs of all years. I sold an outfit a short while back that had the complete Vetter conversion package including a Terraplane Sidecar.
If you e-mail me, I will send you pix of it.
I have a Terraplane sidecar with GL mounts for sale at this time for $1,500.00 plus freight from zip code 98270.

HI:
I ran a CSC Friendship I on my '79 Wing for 20+ years and always liked it!
Bike and hack were both black and rig looked pretty sharp! Just another option to consider. There must be lots of early CSC Friendships around and you can still get any parts you'd need for them from their VA factory.

P.S. Sold the rig recently[was in need of lots of TLC]and it's being restored by new owner, who already had a GL1000 for parts.
Well I appreciate the responses and offers.
I’ve ridden for fifty years and gotten a little disabled with leg neuro/muscle control and kind of thought my old GL1000 is pretty original and I’m almost the original owner why not get an original sidecar.
In Minnesota we can register as a collector vehicle eliminating the yearly licensing and my collector car insurance Haggerty say they can probably insure it.
So now I just have to decide/consider what has been offered----sounds good ----- John near Twin Cities, Minnesota
