In the most recent issue of The Sidecarist, the Editor says that he has been getting some negative input about the font used for the magazine title on the cover. I'm not a big fan of the "circus" font but it really isn't a big deal to me. I do OBJECT to changing the name of the magazine. All of the hyphenated examples offered in the latest issue effectively change the name of the magazine. I'm pretty happy with the current name, it has served us well for MANY years. Is there a groundswell in the club for a new name for our magazine? I haven't heard anything about it. Please, play around with the font of you want but PLEASE DON'T CHANGE THE NAME OF THE SIDECARIST!

I agree. I looked over the samples for quite some time and kept reading it as Side.......Care ...........Ist Just me, I know.

Keep the name, have fun with the font.

Thanks to the editor and others who put time into offering the choices.

I think the editor is doing an outstanding job. Keep the name. Help Martin out by writing an article and send it in and don't sweat the small stuff!!

I agree, change the font but keep the name! Not a fan of the circus font as it makes me think of somthing frivolous. The organization is much more than that.

Do i understand this correctly ? We, the members just raised $300 at last count to purchase a plaque
in honor of Hal Kendall. Hal was a co-founder of the USCA and the logo is his rig. At the same time we
are having a discussion about changing the logo and the name of the magazine. Am i the only one that
finds this strange ?

Fly,

The issue about the magazine was brought up because the Editor asked for opinions in the latest issue of the magazine. The logo he's talking about is the title line on the magazine front cover, where is says "Sidecarist", NOT the club logo. The issue about the "name change" is based on some of his examples that hyphenated the title to read "Side-Carist". Some folks [me included] are NOT in favor of that change.

As I understand it, the motion to pick up the balance of the money for the plaque has been made and seconded. It's in the vote right now and the votes stay open for 7 days. We should know in just a few more days. So far there are four "yes" votes, no "no's".

Al, i start to worry when you and i agree on things.

All in all the magazine is pretty good. It comes out on time. The content is good.
I realise Martin can only put in what he is sent. The added color is great.
That being said there are more colors than red and yellow. I laid out the last 13 issues.
you can't tell one from the others. Red over yellow. Yellow over red. There are other colors.
Brian is right about the circus font. Sidecarist is one word , no dash. Examples3 and 5 aren't bad.

Example 1 shows a new logo. "sleek and smooth the way we all wish our rides where" were?
Ask the Uralistas about smooth and sleek.

Change the font and clean up the front page and i think most would be happy.

my 3 cents adjusted for inflation

Fly, In the past couple of years I've come to the conclusion that being a full time jerk takes too much effort and I'm directing my energy elsewhere. ;^)

Change the font, not the title.( Personally the font does not bother me either.)

A softer color would change the feel.

Don't we have more important things to worry about( eg. stupid restrictive laws-- half awake four wheelers--texters -- etc.) Come on folks--lighten up it's only a magazine-- does it really matter that much?? We are a very small part of motorcycling. Let's not argue over small details,as we only have one magazine left after the demise of Hack'd enjoy it it,s all we got!!

Do not change the title of The Sidecarist. The font doesn't bother me either, but in the computer age changing fonts and/or colors is just a clicky-click away. Might try something new each issue.
