I'd like to chat with one of you about your Escort. As you may know, I'm struggling with the issue of getting Luke out of his California. What we're doing now is getting him to slid slightly forward in the seat, putting a pillow over the edge of the hack, and then holding his hands/arms to pull him to his feet. So far he hasn't complained about the edge of the hack cutting into his legs as we pull him up. It looks like the Escort opens more fully and exposes more of the seat and floor of the hack.
Comments are sure welcomed!

Have been useing an Escort for two years. One of the main reasons we got it was for the ease of getting in and out of it. Dealer I got it from in Pa showed me an escort an older couple had got because of the ease of getting in and out of it. Also my one son is a big boy, ( about 6ft tall and 260lbs ), and he fits in it very well also. Traded in a Velorex on it that he filled up and didn't have too much room in. Maybe someone closer to you has an Escort you can go look at. If you're getting close to central PA sometime let me know and you can gladly check out my Escort. Good luck.

Thanks Egor! I don't know why I didn't think about the Escort long ago. I'm pretty sure there's one not too far away.

Hey, anyone have a used one in great shape that they want to sell?

We have owned an Escort with our '04 Montauk for about a year and a half now, and love it. My wife does most of the riding, but I have a buddy at 6'10", 275 and I am 6'3", 275 and we both fit fine. The front does lift off quite a bit allowing a lot of clearence from the car to the ground. Very short "lip" to slide over. In fact, I do the service work on the right side of the bike from the car. Just lift the lid and neal or sit in the car and work away. Quite comfy. Subframe and mounts can be hard to find, but would not recommend Dauntless unless you want a challenge. Good products when you finally get all of the correct pieces, but getting them can be an issue. Also, Champion does not provide a wiring diagram but they do color code all of the wires which helps. They just don't tell you what the colors are. And the car comes with no break. The "Optional Disk Brake" is an option to no break. Not to a drum. Very expensive to add the disk brake later. Get the tinted windscreen if you are out at all in the sun, as it will make a big difference. And if you order the "chrome fenders", make sure they secure the end plugs. I lost 3 end plugs before getting new ones and applying a large dose of silicone to the caps to hold them on. But I would do it again. In fact, thinking about buying the 2+2 as we have acquired a large dog and the wife and dog can't fit. So I might have one for sale, eventually.

We often use the Escort when we have a customer with limited mobility as with the front opening straight up it is easy to get in and out of. We also often will build an electric seat lift.

The seat lift apperatus can be stolen off of one of those chairs for the elderly if anyone can find one.. The chair my mom has has a transformer to run the 12v motor on it when plugged into 110. Pretty neat setup really.

Claude, I don't think I'll need that powered version. We have the "non-powered" one of that lift. Unfortunately, it puts Luke too high in the hack while we're riding.
His arms are VERY strong, so if I get his legs swung around toward the ground, we do okay. As I mentioned, in the Calif. I put a pillow under his legs so the fiberglass of the hack doesn't cut into him. That's why I thought the Escort would be better. Luke seems to enjoy helping out and it's easier on my ol' back.
