I installed a ' tail light splitter' 25 years ago, when I started hauling my cargo trailer...I still have the same one installed after over 100,000 miles hauling the trailer and now with a SC. never failed on me.
I will buy another one for the newer '85 K100 bike I am setting up for my motorvation SC.
Yeah, I had one of those good ones on a Goldwing back then. I dare say you'll find the ones available today aren't nearly as well made. And they cost a whole lot more than they did back then.
Hmmmmm..maybe I'll swap it out for a different one into my new rig.
I do agree that from a visibility and safety perspective that signals on the car is a good idea. I would invite Jay or Pete to comment, but as far as I am aware there is no requirement in Washington State to do this. I have elected not to have the turn signals on the car for style reasons.

In Washington State a sidecar is classified as an accessory as are saddlebags. There are no RCW's regarding lighting requirements on accessories, but it is always prudent to be seen as well as possible since most motorists put "Didn't see the bike" on their accident report forms.

I mounted a stock Triumph turn signal on my Spyder about halfway up the tub. Took a little compound milling of the boss I made from black anodized aluminun to get the correct angles, but when it was done, was worth it. I simply took the bulb out of the bike mounted turnsignal and wired the chair's turnsignal in to the harness on the bike. The sidecar has a molex plug that fits into the bike's harness.I'd post a picture, but I see that it's not allowed.
