I can't find any markings on the sidecar body.

I'd like to make a rollcage for it, but before I go to too much trouble designing, bending, grinding and welding I figured I'd at least TRY to see if someone has done this before and maybe even has the measurements all worked out.

I don't recognize it, but it is a great looking sidecar. Good luck with it.

I could easily be wrong here but it appears to be a Spirit Eagle that someone has heavily modified. The fender was originally attached directly to the sidecar body and the surrounding tube bumper didn't exist. IMHO the mods were a big improvement and added a lot of weight to a sidecar that is frequently too light for larger bikes.

Great guess Al! but not quite it, All of the hardware is the early California mounting hardware with the 5/8 inch balls that are known to fail, more then likely it is either a very highly modified Companion which as you know used the same body as the Spirit Eagle or it is a highly modified commuter scooter sidecar from California sidecars. You are right that it is a great improvement over the way it was built by California sidecars.
Tried to answer this, this morning but did not have a good connection to load the photo as I am off riding in the SW on my R1200GSA / Expedition rig, today we were in the Valley of the Gods in Utah, now we are in Arizona.

Thanks folks, I've sent an email to California Side Car to confirm this really is one of theirs, but I think you've nailed it.

The mounts are CSC but the visible small diameter frame tube with an eyebolt hole in it tells me that it could be an American Eagle, or Spirit of America sidecar. The 1 3/4" CSC mounts appear larger than the sidecar frame.

A sure test would be to sand off some paint and see if the frame is chrome plated. The Eagle frames were plated.

It is definitely not a CSC Commutor (scooter car) they are much smaller.
