I picked up a sidecar a few months back and am just getting around to putting it together.

I got the sidecar basically back together; in that I know where everything on the hack goes, however I a little stymied as to how to connect it to the bike.

Anyone have any instructions or advice? A parts list would be good too 🙂 I sent an e-mail off to the company yesterday.

Thanks.

Carl

HI CARL:
If this California Friendship II is really old, [had a new '83 model]it used ball/socket type lower attachments and they are dangerous, as they CAN separate! You were very wise to contact CSC in VA, as they should be able to furnish you with the proper revised, beefy lower mounts, which are much safer. GOOD LUCK.....Old Tom in NH

Ok, thanks for the confirmation. I'll wait on their reply.

Safe riding.

The marble sized ball and collet mounts need to be upgraded to Heim joint mounts and the old torsion strap suspension is also suspect. Upgrades are available for both.

What's so dangerous about ball mounts? I've had them on my /2 BMWs and I've never had a problem.

The ball mounts on your BMW are 30mm and work very well. The California ball joints on the other hand do not. The suspention on these early sidecars also have issues.
We have up grade parts for both.
