Bingham Mark II Restoration
So bought a Bingham Mark II in hopes to restore it and either to attach it to my Suzuki Intruder Volusia 800 or my Kawasaki KLR650. If it were on my KLR it would have to able to handle fire road stuff. Right now the lowest point of ground clearance is 6.5". Not so good for fire road stuff. We'll see. I plan to replace the shot shock with possibly a longer one to help bring it off the ground a bit. Worst case it'll be a cruise around town hack on the Volusia.
Here are some images:

Today I got a chance to take it apart. The frame looks pretty good and the tub seems to be pretty solid. Overall weight I want to say around 200lbs. Maybe even a little less than that. I was pretty surprised.
The shock is shot like I stated before. Does anyone believe that a Honda CB500 shock will work on something like this? I have one lying around that's why. Also I'll need a better way of mounting the tub to the frame. Maybe even lift it up a little. Originally it was mounted with 4 bolts and on a stack of washers in the rear.
You will most likley find that if you use a single shock off of a bike that was designed for dual shocks that the spring will be way to soft. We use progresive brand shocks often with a spring rate of 250/350. You can mount the body up on rubber vibration dampers. This is how we mount our bodies.

Thanks Jay!
Would something like this work?
No, it will have way to light duty of a spring and also more then likley a shock in this price range for a go cart would not last but a few weeks being used on a sidecar. We do have the shocks we use in stock.

How much would your shocks cost? I measure the current one and it's about 13.5" mid eyelet to mid eyelet. Looking to get something a little longer to lift it up a bit.
The progressive's are a special build for us and sell for $195 each, they are about 13 inche eye to eye. We also ahve some shocks from another supplier that are 16.5 iches eye to eye rated at 350lbs and sell for $85 each. These have 5 inches of travel and are what we use on our leading links for light dual sport bikes.

Thanks! I think may pic up that 16.5" shock. Sounds like what I was looking for. I'll be in touch with you when I'm ready to purchase maybe within the next week or so.
Check with YSS Racing. I got a shock for my Jawa /velorex 650 from them
