Today I took the plunge and both joined USCA and bought a 07 Burgman 650 Exec w Dauntless sidecar. I live 50/50 WA and AZ and my Drivers license and mc endorsement is in WA. Even so I intend to have the rig shipped to AZ and learn to ride it here.....then we'll see what adventures that will cause.

Anyway, I don't think I need a sidecar endorsement for AZ but would like to meet some like minded sidecar folks and also find out if any training is available in the Sun City/Phoenix area. I have THE BOOK and also plan to travel up to WA and try to get into a S/TEP course this fall but it would be fun to get a little practice here.

I have ridden small motorcycles but not often or far. I have passed MSF course/twice but has been a few years. As a senior citizen my hope is to do some local riding and hopefully branch out to a bit of camping/fishing/touring with the rig.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Hi Mike,
If you're in eastern WA when you're up this way, I'd be happy to link up for a chat most any time... We're just west of Spokane.

Welcome to the off-set sidecar world Mike. S/TEP course is good -- beware, it took me a couple thousand miles and S/TEP to become comfortable piloting my rig.

And Burgman's make a good tug. Here is Mrs. SwampFox's rig at a the TURD/Sidecar Muster in East Texas last month -- pic from the Holly Park Marina Facebook page:

Lee,
Good to see someone else has a Scoot for a tug. Yours is a great looking rig and I'll post one of mine once I get a shot or two. I plan to take plenty of time learning the ropes and hope I can find some like minded folks locally who can give a hint or two along the way.

Mike if you're ever in Prescott--maybe to escape the heat--stop by our little shop just south of the courthouse square. We're primarily into the Ural part of the sidecar world but boss Mark and I are long time sidecarists. Always happy to chat with a fellow sidecarist and the run up the mountain on 89 is great on any rig.

All of the Snowbirds are heading for WA from AZ this time of year. They'll start back south in September.

3 wheeled snow bird, what a good idea.
Lee Snow who picked me up in Death Valley and delivered me to Las Vegas hospital in her Beedle with trailer hook in 88, would have loved a rig for sure too.
If she is still around wandering as a snow bird, she must have passed the 100th birthday quite a while ago.
A chears on all warm hearted snow birds like her.
