Anyone Put a Velorex on a Ural
Has anyone put a Velorex on a Ural before? I'm thinking about trading my '98 Ural Tourist SC for a Velorex 562 (to save weight).
I'd be interested to hear how it worked out if you have done it.
The Velo universal mount should hook right up to the frame like any other I would think. I would loose my 3-wheel-and-spare interchangability. But I'd gain a soft top enclosure and save alot of weight for the 650cc engine.
I never hooked up the SC brake when I had a 562 and seem to remember it was cable actuated. Is this correct? I wonder how difficult it would be to tie into the Ural rear brake...
Is the Velorex 562 wheel 18"?
Thanks,
Matt
I've installed Velorex sidecars on almost everything else down to 250ccs and sold 562s to URAL owners for their use on URAL bikes. For the reason you mention. The 154# car is just a lot easier to haul around when you are short on horsepower.
It's an easy installation with the long open frame of the URAL.
The Velorexs all have a 16" wheel. Widths of the wheel vary with the different models but all are 36 spoke 16" chrome wheels.
The Velorex has a cable operated mechanical drum brake similar to the Dnepr sidecars.
