Thanks Lonnie,
That's what I was hoping to avoid. The paint is nice enough that I hate to cut and weld it. Oh well, if it needs to be done that way, I guess I'll do it. First I have to concentrate on selling my truck so I can afford to buy another bike.

Mike,
The inserts I mentioned to you are part of the system to avoid cutting off your original collet section.

HEy Mike,

You know without being able to move that front lower mount it might cause tou a whole lot of problems. Even if you did cut off the mount to make it adjustable doesn't mean that you can't mount it on a BMW someday. If this were an actual classic BMW sidecar I might be reluctant to cut and hack, but hey its a Ural, hack away and worry about mounting it something else later. Oh and I think I know someone who has some ball mounts that could be used for mounting your old Dnepr car to a GL1000. If that just happens to be something you are thinking about........Free with the purchase of a 78 GL1000.

Hey! Didn't I give you those mounts? :0)
I haven't forgotten you, I would rather have a GL1500 to put it on. I've got the truck advertised. If it doesn't sell I'll be interested in yours. If you still have it. Or maybe I should offer your brother in law a Dnepr in trade for the whole rig and pass it on to my favorite daughter. (We'll see if she's listening).

No, not the Ural on the GL1000 the Dnepr you take off the Valk can go on the GL1000 with the mounts you gave me. Not a chance on trading the Dnepr sidecar for a GL1000 AND terraplane!

Even still I don't think he would part with it. His plan is to get me to help him to mount it to his Cavalcade, as if I didn't have enough projects going on this winter. And if he did decide to part with it I would keep the Terraplane for myself to keep in "inventory".

I understand. I definitely do need those ball mounts though if you aren't using them.

That should be easy. They were in a peanut butter jar. 🙂
