We have a Champion Escort on our '01 WIng that has been taken over by Heelers. Most often two but sometimes three. The wife calls it our Heeler Hauler. 😉

I carry a blue heeler in a Harley Ultra on a Road King. Fixing to add a Schipperke.
Connie, an automotive seat cover and an SUV cargo liner keeps all the hair in one place, and can be quickly bagged and stowed behind the seat for switching to carrying people. I've carried people a grand total of... twice. Most people buy rigs for the same reason you and I did; stability and balance. Getting to take the dog along is an added bonus.
I put a fold-down ring on the floor for connecting her harness. That keeps her from jumping out when we're parked. Doggles didn't fit, so I gave up my Harley Uni-lens goggles for her. When she was a baby, we taught her to chew ice so there wouldn't be water slopping all over the cab of the truck, so I added a cup holder to one of the grab rails to hold her ice. Then I found a clip-on umbrella designed for the folding chairs. The bracket fits the other grab handle and the umbrella comes off and fits in a saddlebag. That way when we're parked, she has shade, ice, and is fastened in.
I too have a "Heeler Hauler!" Sylvie jumped right in and claimed the hack as soon as I brought it home. Sometimes she will get in it in the garage and stay there for hours. I haven't worried about her jumping out when we're on the road, but I tie her in with a short leash just in case she ever got distracted by something. I haven't been able to leave her alone with the hack in a parking lot because she growls at people that may get too close... maybe that's a good thing??? Anyway, here's a pic:
We have a Dnepr sidecar on my BMW R75/5. It is a bit small for my wife and our border collie, Andy. We are looking for something a bit larger. Anyone know if a California Friendship ll would be big enough for an adult and medium sized dog? I don't really want to go to a double wide (two person) hack, but I think the Friendship 11 would work on my tug.
Well heck, people.........
First post here.
My son-in -law is the superintendent of a golf course and a yellow lab showed up one day and kinda took to it. We have a couple of large lakes at the course and he would spend his time chasing down the green mallards around the lakes until he caught one and would look for golfers to give it to them. He wouldn't hurt the ducks; he has a soft mouth. We'd take the ducks and turn them loose, no worse for wear in the exchange.
Anywho...he became a pest when he decided to start retrieving golf balls. So the the general manager told us to find his master (he had a collar and vacine tag). We found her and she wasn't interested in what happened to him.:(
Instead of callin the pond, I decided to take him home with me and try to fatten him up. I live on a bayou in Louisiana and that would give him all the water he could want.
I thought about training him to ride in the sidecar cuz he took to riding on the super's cart like a duck to wa......One day last week, I got him in the sidecar and rode up and down the levee. He loved it. A few days ago I put together a short chain and clips to fit the windshield bow on the Ural and took him to town. Caused quite a reaction from people. I've heard from several people that they saw me with a sidecar with a dog riding with me.
I am trying to figure out how to take him with me when I head for town and can't take him into shops, restuarants, etc. I guess I will get a longer chain.
I saw the topic of helmets and googles for pets and am looking into that. It'd be funny to have a helmet and googles for that dog....and a lot safer for him bending his head out the side of the windshield. He will look out the side until I get to about 50 and then sit looking through the 'shield above that.
I am wondering about taking him on a trip..........

Hi Red,
Thanks for the tip, but I don't have any intentions of having a dog in my sidecar! I don't hate dogs, but I will never understand why anyone wants to travel with a dog!
I do have a small parrot that I bought in Daytona Beach two years ago and brought home in my sidecar. I would be happy to have him ride with me if I could teach him not to: crap everywhere, be too loud and annoying, and bite (something I wish dog owners would do). He's a lot more fun than a dog, he talks. He says things like, "I love you, where've ya been, quit that, here kitty, kitty and meow." I think he's adorable, but until we can overcome his bad behaviors, he'll be staying at home (like most dogs should).

Bought a goat once and brought it hom ein our old Velorex..Got some strange looks coming through town. Goat seemed to like the ride..lol
Hey, Claude--I love that! I bet you did get some strange looks! I'm always surprised at the number of people who tell me that they've never seen a sidecar before, but a sidecar with a goat - - that "has" to be an eye-opener!
Connie
Yes,it was an eye opener. There were a lot of folks doing double takes when we went through Mifflinburg. One guy was getting out of his car and tripped a little and did one of those 'don't fall down shuffles' across the sidewalk never taking his eyes off of us...lol.
Talk about carrying stuff in sidecars..I bet some here could tell some dandy stories. One time I brought home (4) 100 pound bags of , I think it was oats, in that same old Velorex. It was okay until I took the bags out and the last one busted..Bummer..Oats all over the place. Vacummed out all I could and spent some time cleaning the rest berfore JoAnne noticed. All seemed fine until a few weeks later when JoAnne noticed all these little green sprouts coming up in HER sidecar...ugh.

Claude....
I was on my two wheeler a few years back and decided to take in the GoatFestival. (Here in Louisiana,we have festivals for anything!) During the activities, there was a goat auction and the last baby goat was up for sale and the bidding was slow and I bid low and behold, I got her. I just couldn't resist those blue eyes, one of my many weaknesses.(Too many essess?)
Anyway, I had to bring her home and I was on my bike. She was small, about 7 lbs or so,I guess. So I unbuttoned the leather jacket and zipped it partially with her head sticking out. She wasn't happy about it at first, but she reconciled herself after a bit and I headed home.
I got into town and a few people saw that strange growth. At a red light, a local character walked up to me and stared at us. His comment after a few seconds was, "What's an old goat like you doing with a young kid?"
He walked off and within a week, everyone knew I had a goat.
I kept her in a fenced in yard for a couple weeks, but I couldn't keep her from jumping on a doghouse and then up to the roof or over the fence. Kids in the neighborhood loved her, but I was worried about her getting hit by a car or being attacked by dogs, so I gave her to a friend in the country that raises sheep. I kinda missed coming home and seeing her running all over the roof grazing on the tree limbs hanging over the roof.
Oh well..........

Thanks for that post..great story!
From one old goat to another,
Claude 🙂
Claude....
I just reread my message and saw that I had typed I kept her for a couple weeks....nope, it was more like 4 or 5 months. Being my advanced age, I had a senior moment there.
Sorry 'bout that.........
